Why Paint Cats by Burton Silver, Heather Busch (2002, Paperback)

Who knows if it's true? Are there really people out there who have their cats painted? Are there people who actually do the painting? How do you get the cat to stay still that long? Snopes says it's false. http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/paintedcats.asp but after looking at the book page by colorful page, who cares? Am I going to paint my cats? No. Would I look up someone who paints cats? No. Would I buy the book for the entertainment value of it all? Yes. Do I think it's fair to pass the book off as something that truly exists? Not particularly but then the authors need to deal with their own conscience and integrity. I'm guilt-free and entertained!

If you love cats..this is your book. It's amazing! I never knew how creative painting a cat could be. It's a book worth looking at over and over again.

This is a unique concept. The real cats photographed are dyed! They look so cool that you'd think they were computer generated. Some cats just have a smatter of color; others are complex, such as the puddy with a tartan on its back. The book lists resources on how to do this yourself, but this was published in the 90s, so who knows if the sources still exist. My big question is, how do you get your puss to sit still? I'm not about to sedate my cat just to dye him! This book is definitely "coffee table" worthy and I think kids will adore it, too.

I'd seen some images from this book, and decided to send it to my neice for her birthday. She and I are both cat lovers, and the pictures in the book are beautiful. It's a book that I think she will enjoy for many years, and I think it makes a wonderful gift, especially for cat lovers.

Bought it as a purrfect gift for my friend who is a vetinarian, but secretly loves CATS!

This is a hilarious book! It's hard to know how much is for real and how much is wickedly tongue in check cat humor. You should check this out if you enjoyed "Why Cats Paint".

I originally saw a few of the photos on the internet. Had to get the book. Very funny, very well done. Stirs the imagination.
