Though this show starring Susan Sarandon and James Spader came out on VHS in 1990, it's still as hot now as it was then. ::fanning myself::
Nora (Sarandon) works in a hamburger joint. Even though she lives, shall we say, on the poorer side of the tracks, she's an extremely independent woman rich with self-esteem and pride.
Max Baron (Spader) has a chance encounter which introduces Nora Baker to him. When she turns his head, she also turns his life around.
Max is mourning his young wife's death and is younger by far than Nora. He's a successful St. Louis advertising executive who lives on the other side of the classist tracks, and the other side of pride and esteem, as well.
The steam fills the room with this ever so sexy film with Spader and Sarandon going at it in an offbeat sort of romance that changes lives. It's a love story without all the bleky gushing.

Inspiring story of love conquering all. Great performances by both Susan and James. Whenever I'm feeling sad, I pop this movie in and I'm full of hope and good feelings again.

Super Hot!It created quite a stir when "White Palace" hit the screens back in 1987. This story of an older working class woman (Susan Saradon) and a younger rich 20-something man falling in love is tempestuous and full of emotion and sexuality. Susan Saradon and James Spader are wonderful together.Excellent performances by Jason Alexander and Kathy Bates round out the main cast. Try it, you"ll like it.

I like it because it touches on the "odd" relationships in life. Class, educational and age difference are all overcome by love, or human need. Real life usually isn't that way, but this movie gives hope to the ones that have been confronted with these issues. It's truly one of my favorites!

) I'm a collector of James Spader movies, and I find him to be such a versatile actor, whether he is in Drama (True Colors), Action (The Watcher), Sci-Fi (Stargate), Suspense (Dream Lover), or comedy (his drunk scene is hilarious in "Curtain Call"). As for Romance, as one of his older female fans, I find his mismatched romance as a younger, well-to-do man involved with the older Susan Sarandon (in a stellar performance as a blowsy, tough waitress) to be heart-breaking, heart-warming, and "HOT! HOT! HOT!" Wow. I LOVED IT! Five Stars!!!

A gem of a movieThis is a movie you can pull out on rainy nights with a bowl of popcorn and enjoy. I saw this movie years ago and absolutely HAD to purchase my own copy. I haven't regretted it and it promises to be a lifetime keeper.
I enjoyed the reality of the relationship between an older woman and a younger man, it was so real, I cringed at some parts of the movie and that's good. It means I was involved in the story, so it was not BORING!
This is a timeless movie that you'll always enjoy.

I wanted to see another Susan Sarandon film because I know her brother and I saw her in her brother's restaurant one October. She still looks as good as when this movie was made and she is a great actress. It was a good movie (meaning I wasn't bored) but the ending was kind of.... too much. The conversations were not too complicated so I would rate this easy listening. But at least there were conversations...and some nudity... better than those mindless action flicks any day. Note ... you may see yourself somewhere in this film. Well, time to make the popcorn.
