White Hot by Angel (CD, Nov-2004, Universal Special Products)

This is a memory,an album that I bought, now on CD, that i needed to have in my collection.The lead singer vocals almost operatic, the drums thrombastic, gregg giuffria, punky meadows, as akin to Ace Frehley,as a band is ever to get, the fact that they never got "popular"but for those of us who love good music,great guitar,and great lyrics, all in a package with magic to boot. I'm an old man of the sea and there were a lot of blindness as well as deafness,for those who could not,would not recognize a band that could take you places that were whole and plentiful.
Compare this to the new Angel album and I find it woefully lacking in the vocals that made earlier Angel songs so vibrant and operatic,but the drums do overwhelm and pronounce their ability to not just carry a song, but to define it,the guitarist who loves to go acoustic, not a bad thing , just nowhere in the vein that could be called, Angel.You lost the majestic over the top playing,you do know how to play, hey?Show Me, please.

ANGEL, WHITE HOT IS THE BEST EFFORT FROM THIS GREAT 70'S METAL/GLAM BAND. THE ALBUM OPENS WITH THE STRONGEST TRACK ON THE DISC, "DON'T LEAVE ME LONELY", AND DOES NOT STOP FROM THERE. THIS ALBUM IS PRODUCED NICE AND CLEAN,AND IS A BOARDERLINE MASTERPIECE. ALL THE SONGS ARE WELL COMPOSED BY GREAT MUSICIANS AND THE VOCAL WORK IS FLAWLESS. IT IS STILL ONE OF THE BIGGEST MYSTERIES OF ROCK WHY THIS BAND NEVER MADE IT AS BIG AS KISS DID? IF MTV WAS AROUND IN THE LAST 70'S, ANGEL WOULD HAVE MADE IT BIG! THEY HAD THE SOUND AND THE LOOK OF A REAL ROCK BAND. IF YOU DO NOT OWN THIS ALBUM OR HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANGEL, TRUST ME AND BUY THIS DISC, YOU WON'T BE DISAPOINTED IF YOU LIKE 70'S ROCK WITH GREAT GUITAR AND KEYBOARD. TK, BRIGHTON MI U.S.A.

May be this is not the better ANGEL album like "Angel" or "Helluva band" for me the best material...This cd remembers me a nice era full of nice BUT NOT-FAMOUS bands like STARZ,NEW ENGLAND,ROADMASTERS,etc...&quo​t;White hot" was the last breath of ANGEL hard rock collection,then the band falls into a pop music and that kills all this project...Is nice to have this cd in my collection,I`m now looking for "AS EARTH AS IS IN HEAVEN" another glam rock icon from ANGEL,but I can`t find it...The ANGEL REUNION (Frank Dimino & Barry Brandt the only survivors)with their new cd "Beginnig" is only a shadow of the past,they now want to sound like Led Zeppelin,they forgot to record a nice & hard guitar on this album,and that`s why sounds so weak and sad...If some ANGEL member read this,please think about rise again the power of ANGEL a mix of the glory of "ANGEL" & "HELLUVA BAND",try to have PINKY MEADWOODS again in the band and you will see the results!!!

White Hot, Angel's best selling album, isn't the least bit challenging, but then it isn't supposed to be. Angel was unapologetically commercial, and high-gloss numbers such as "Over and Over," "Stick Like Glue," and "Hold Me, Squeeze Me" point to the fact that the East Coast band was generally good at what it did. Also likable is Angel's cover of "Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore," which became a moderate hit. As far as pop-metal goes, Angel didn't quite have the hooks of Kiss, Sweet, or Cheap Trick; but while White Hot isn't fantastic, it's decent. I like style of Angel, so I decided to buy on eBay my favourite album of Angel.

Wow,where should I start?? First of all,for anybody who is an ANGEL fan..MUST GET THIS!! I think the cd was remastered,because I can really hear all the little "tweaks" in the recording..such as the layering of the guitar parts by the underrated Punky Meadows. Also,the effects for his guitar is really evident...being I used to play lead guitar...The mix was well balanced with the drums,bass and of course GUIFFRIAS keyboards in the recording.The vocals are really mixed evenly too. The cd really surprised me how great it sounded compared to my record of WHITE HOT. More "poppy"than ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN,but surely not disappointing.

This album that Angel did in 1977 is my favorite of their later work. The first two albums Angel-"Angel" and Angel-"Helluva Band" sounded totally different than any of their other work, so I will not even try to compare it to those two albums, even though they are also very good albums. They did not achieve the same popular status as their fellow bandmates Kiss, but I like them just the same. I have not found any other bands that tried to be like Kiss in the seventies, with an angelic glam rock feel that they had, sound as good as these guys. It is a shame that they did not get really popular like Kiss and Aerosmith, because they would have probably put out more music then their six albums, that we could appreciate even more than we do now. If you want an excellent Angel cd collection , then you have to have this one in it.

I LOVE THE CD!!! The band is AWESOME!!! I have their album but you can't play that on a CD player & had a very hard time finding the CD in music stores. THANKS EBAY!!!
