Synopsis With his usual brand of perverse whimsy, literary fantasist Jonathan Carroll chronicles the bizarre and often threatening adventures experienced by a man returned from the grave. Vincent Ettrich, an excessively charming ad exec who can't keep his eyes or his hands off other women, is eating dinner at a posh restaurant with his latest conquest, Coco Hallis, when they encounter a dead man. Later that night, Ettrich discovers the dead man's name tattooed on Coco's neck, and that's when he learns that he himself died of liver cancer a month ago. Apparently, the love of his life, Isabelle Neukor, is pregnant with his child, and this unborn child, Anjo, has many mysterious powers, including the ability to resurrect his father from the dead.

Publisher's Note Philanderer Vincent Ettrich reawakens to discover that he has died and come back to life, thanks to the efforts of his true love, Isabelle, who is pregnant with their baby, a child that is destined to save the universe, if Vincent can teach his son much needed lessons about the other side--about which, unfortunately, Vincent can remember nothing.
