PLOT: THIS MOVIE MADE RED SKELTON A STAR~ RADIO MYSTERY SOLVER WALLY BENTON "THE FOX" IS DRUG INTO A CULT TO 'PLAN" A MURDER SO THEY CAN INHERIT THE SOON TO BE DEAD GUYS ESTATE~
Wally Benton a huge success as the smart and clever detective via radio~ solves crimes~ when a CULT lead by CONRAD VEIDT who is really a group of conmen getting the BELIEVERS to leave them their money and they slowly find ways to kill them~ THEY DECIDE clever BENTON can solve murders why not let him 'plan' the perfect crime so they KIDNAP HIM AND HIS FIANCEE AND A REPORTER who is on their trail FULL OF MORE SIGHT GAGS and the real fun here is watching TOTAL HEEL VEIDT pretend to be GOOD ~ more than funny~ the cult is weird and if you do not like Skelton you may not care for it~ THIS IS THE second BEST IN THE SERIES OF THREE~ AND MADE RED SKELTON then a popular radio star a genuine movie star~ Ann Rutherford as the Fiancee~ and Virgina Grey as the reporter~

We loved Whistling in Brooklyn and wished to buy the remaining three in that series. The DVD that we received did NOT work.

The movie was a disappointment to me, more because of the story line itself rather than Red. I remember seeing some of those old ones by Red I thought in the 40's, and there was one that was (as I remember) truly side-splitting. Was it the one called "A Shot in the Dark?" Somebody tell me. I would still buy that one --- take a shot, so to speak. SCN
