Great Bang for the Buck

This is our main living room television. We are kindof a minimalist family, so there's no cable TV in our house, but we have strapped a set of Walmart 52dB HDTV bunny-ears up to the TV and come up with some surprising results!
Purchased about two years ago, the TV was a tax return present! Yeah... Thanks Uncle Sam. Or something like that. Anywho, Best Buy has a special going on where we paid $650 I think for the 32" and 2 years ago that was something to rave about. So we got it, brought it home, unwrapped it. Plugged it in. Plugged in some more. "Dad, are you done yet?" Masterpiece was ready. Being a technologist, my family is burdened with having to put up with me. So here is how OUR path works. After months of research, I decided to run as much through our computer as humanly possible. SO this being said, movies come through the DVD player in the computer, into the RGB (VGA to some) on the computer. It is essentially "monitor 2" as my computer sees it. Works flawlessly; and with Cyberlink DVD's EagleVision the color correction is great. Colors look good, high motion doesn't pixelated in an overly annoying manner and overall just what we wanted GREAT picture, for Lady and the Tramp. In the Component input we have PS2 games, that look so oddly stunning, GT4 too fun. In the AV input, we have a tether to my camera which allows me to see the pictures for a quick glance on the big screen, or whatever else may need to get plugged in. HDMI is not currently used, however my family has brought over the PS3 and, A HA! Assassin's Creed comes to life. Let alone the crispness of the BlueRay!!
Sound is fine, most are probably going to use a stereo receiver and never use the speakers anyway. It's what we do, and the TV speakers are seldom used. I pump the sound out using the great TOSLINK or LightPipe or SPDIF or whatever you call it output to a digital input on my receiver. In our town we currently receive 8 or 9 broadcast HD channels. They are clear, and football on NBC is thrilling to watch in HD. So again are my home movies shot with my HD camera. The blacks might be able to be a bit more dark, but in the guise that I have spent a smaller amount than most on a 32" widescreen, I'd say that I'm satisfied.
On the negative, the only odd thing this TV does is freeze. Occasionally, it may appear that a channel has lost its signal, however the TV never recovers. The remote function dies as well as the buttons on the TV itself. The only recovery is "rebooting" the TV (power out of the wall and back in). It's only happened a handfull of times in 2 years, but still, its always when the plot thickens. Who plans this stuff??
I wish it had a DVI input instead of just RGB. I wish it could do Picture In Picture. I wish it had a USB built into the side. However, will I enjoy the 60,000 claimed lamp hours? Yes. Are Lady and the Tramp life size? Yes. In all practicality, it's a great TV a great price, and even consumer reports put it in the top 10 for 32" TVs (7th place and a CR pick). If that doesn't say something I don't know what does.
