Small form-factor, large capacity - a steal!

I chose the Elite version of WD's My Passport. Its main differences are, AFAIK, the material used in coating (more pleasant to the touch than the one used in other My Passports), and the capacity indicator that shows how much stuff there's already on your drive.
First I must say that bus-powered solutions are my all time favorites. I had one older 120 GB Barracuda drive lying around and every time I needed to move large amounts of data between computers in my home network I had to perform a rather complex procedure (and yes, they are networked, but it's taking just too long to move several gigabytes of data using the WIFI speeds). I had to install it into the rather cumbersome external enclosure, hook up the adapter (also means I need to find a free outlet), connect it to the computer via USB cable... just TOO boring.
This drive, in comparison, are sleeky little bastard that does not need any other power except USB's own 3 or so volts. Just plug it into USB port and voila!
I didn't really use the loads of software that came preinstalled on the HDD, note that it takes several gigs of space, which means less space for your own usage. Perhaps this software may be erased and the drive will turn into ordinary 2.5 External HDD, I don't know, haven't tried it yet.
The software seems somewhat useful (there's lots of redundant applications though, like some Google aps). I only used the Syncronization software to make a backup of all of my work files, it also uses AES encryption to provide an additional peace of mind.
One sidenote - the drive comes partitioned using FAT32 filesystem (supposedly to maintain compatibility with Macs), which means you cannot store files larger than 4GB on it. If you primary computer is PC, you may reformat the drive using NTFS and use some special utilities to access the HDD on your Mac (google them).
The drive (at least Elite version) also comes bundled with a soft pouch for carrying - makes the drive look very "homey".
Overall, a money well spent.
