This is definitely one of the quickest drives on the market. Nothing else compares with the speed and quality. I'm a computer builder and this is what I recommend for price, speed, and durability.

WD Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320 GB SATA Hard Drive 2.5

The hard drive installed with no problems. The drive does not appear to affect the battery life of the netbook. I installed the HD in a HP 2133 minibook. I wanted a larger hard drive spinning at 7K2 RPM. I was able to pick this one up, new, for around $66 including shipping on EBay. First, I cloned the original drive to the WD Scorpio. After installation, the drive performed perfectly. Not a techie so I can only give you my nonprofessional’s viewpoint. You can research the specs. It takes days to re-install software after a HD crash so I may buy another to clone my other computer hard drives.

The world's best portable hdd WD Scorpio Black
Review created: 12/24/09

The world's best portable hdd. The WD Scorpio Black Edition is spectacular, very quiet, does not feel any vibration, very fast file transfer with 16MB Cache! Maintains a low temperature of operation, its weight is very light. If you are thinking about buying the best disk for your next-generation handheld WD Scorpio Black Edition is the best! Thank you.

Western Digital Scorpio Black 320Gb notebook hard drive
Review created: 12/16/09(updated 12/16/09)
by:

I needed to upgrade my 120Gb notebook hard drive on my Dell Inspiron E1505.
After looking at Seagate, Hitachi, Samsung and others, the 320Gb Western Digital Scorpio Black was high on my list.
Reviews rated it highly on it's quiteness, speed performance, low power consumption and price which fitted the criteria I was looking for.

I purchased an external USB enclosure for the drive on Ebay at the same time.
Once I got both, I cloned my hard drive onto the new WD drive using Acronis which I downloaded from the WD website. It took a couple of hours to complete.
When it was finised, I swapped the drives and booted it up. Windows came up just like it should with all my desktops and startup stuff which launched without any problems. All my programs and data files were intact and operational.

I would say I'm very happy with my purchase. Programs and applications run noticeably faster and quieter than my old 5400rpm drive. Although, I did not notice any appreciable difference in battery run time.

Been running with it for over a month now with no problems what so ever.

I highly recommend the WD 320GB Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB hard drive for anyone looking to upgrade their notebook.

There is another model up from this one, model WD3200BJKT, which have a free fall sensor that helps prevent head crash in the event the notebook is dropped.

  Top notch notebook hard disk!!
Review created: 11/24/09

I decided to buy this HD since my Macbook pro's 5400rpm started to fail me. Speeds where just too slow and whenever i would work on Logic, it would just stop responding. Apparently a hard disk upgrade was all i needed. Its fast, reliable and its WD. Top notch notebook HD for mac or pc.

Highly recommended

  Speedy little drive!
Review created: 10/27/09

This hard drive starts programs faster + 10%, it also brings up my photo gallery and lays out my photos almost instantly +20%. I replaced a Scorpio Blue 320gb 5400 rpm with this new Scorpio Black 7200 rpm. It runs at the exact same temperatures as my Blue did, plus it's just as quiet, and no vibration.

I really like both drives, but I just wanted to put a little more jump into my Gateway Core 2 duo laptop, and have an extra drive cloned along with backup files on it.

The few extra dollars was worth the increase in speed, I have had trouble free performance from my Western Digital drives for years.

  WD Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT
Review created: 09/25/09

I got this 2.5 internal hard drive for my 13.3 MacBook Pro to increase the hard drive space. It's a easy install. Not sure if it made my MacBook quicker cause I added this along with increasing the RAM to 4GB when I got the unit new. So far I have not had any problems.
No noise from the hard drive like some when it is writing
I do like the fact that it will dock when not in use
Went to Western Digital web site to get info. Help me make a choice.
Would buy Western Digital products again.

320G Scorpio Black hard drive (WD)
Review created: 08/04/09

I had been looking to buy this drive for some time but was held up because of price. This seller was the most reasonable of all reserched. Microsoft is creating such large system's usable space on a drive gets cramped quick... you don't have any option but to increase drive size and computer manufacturer's don't seem to have any access to Microsoft's plans. This seller makes you feel like you are getting your money's worth.

This is a great hard drive. This one is quieter, seems to put out less heat, This is my second Western Digital drive that I have installed over the years, and all of the others are still working!

This drive has very good performance, I am using it for 6 months. According to WD it has built-in free fall sensor to protect the data on it when it is needed. If you would like more performance put two of these in a USB RAID box in RAID0 configuration.

I respect the brand, but it didn't work for me.

The Scorpio just won't work in my Fujitsu T4020. I was replacing a fully functional Fujitsu 80Gb 2.5" SATA drive with this WD Scorpio Black 320Gb really fast (7200 rpm) HDD but when installed, it's as if there weren't anything there. I can hear it whirring but no reading whatsoever takes place. I have yet to try it in another notebook, who knows, it might work perfectly.
