Western Digital Scorpio Black 320Gb notebook hard drive
Review created: 12/16/09(updated 12/16/09)

I needed to upgrade my 120Gb notebook hard drive on my Dell Inspiron E1505.
After looking at Seagate, Hitachi, Samsung and others, the 320Gb Western Digital Scorpio Black was high on my list.
Reviews rated it highly on it's quiteness, speed performance, low power consumption and price which fitted the criteria I was looking for.
I purchased an external USB enclosure for the drive on Ebay at the same time.
Once I got both, I cloned my hard drive onto the new WD drive using Acronis which I downloaded from the WD website. It took a couple of hours to complete.
When it was finised, I swapped the drives and booted it up. Windows came up just like it should with all my desktops and startup stuff which launched without any problems. All my programs and data files were intact and operational.
I would say I'm very happy with my purchase. Programs and applications run noticeably faster and quieter than my old 5400rpm drive. Although, I did not notice any appreciable difference in battery run time.
Been running with it for over a month now with no problems what so ever.
I highly recommend the WD 320GB Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB hard drive for anyone looking to upgrade their notebook.
There is another model up from this one, model WD3200BJKT, which have a free fall sensor that helps prevent head crash in the event the notebook is dropped.
