Western Digital My Book Essential (WDH1U6400N) 640 GB USB Hard Drive

I'm not exactly sure about this but when I tried to download off my computer it said the external hard drive was full. Why would this happen? There are a lot of things that came up and I'm not sure about deleting them. Could you let me know what is suppose to be on it to make it run?

This hard drive is very slow, only 15 mb/s that means if you want to save a folder here larger than 10gb it'll take more than 2 hours. it'll make your computer freeze for a couple of seconds some times(this happens to my windows vista). The capacity is really good, but wont write files bigger than 4gb (you can write folders larger than 4gb but you can't write files larger than that), that means all you pirate bayers out there wont be able to save games to this hard drive, only the ones smaller than 4gb.

Personally I don't recommend this item if you usually transfer files larger than 4gb. But if you don't this is a very good item for you.

I love this product it works fine with my MacBook. Its a much needed accesory for anyone who owns a laptop or desktop of anykind

Looks great, good size. Not exactly 640GB however, It has a bunch of stuff on it and comes with 594GB free space, still more than I'll ever use. Still Give it an A+++

This is an excellent external HD and serves itspurpose, backing up data or copying. The drive already has its drivers and necessary software to run, just plug and play. The transfer rate was a little slow but no problem when data is concered. Formating to an NTFS was better than the FAT32 that was previously installed. If given the opportunity to buy another one I would not hesitate.

This is the perfect backup source, small yet portable. This is the second one I have purchased and have had the first one for a couple of years.

Very nice product, simple and easy to use, just plug it in to your usb and your all set to go. Would recommend this product to anyone thats looking for an easy set up.

My computer is getting old and I'm running out of storage space. I also have problems with lightning where I live. Now I can store all me important things on my external hard drive and not worry about losing them. I love it.

An external hard drive- what more can I say. Store media and back up files. Perfect product for a file server on your network. It's definitely a worth while investment because it makes things so much easier. As the storage capacities get better, I highly recommending upgrading!

For some reason my computer will not boot up when the hard drive is connected...Very annoying because i have to unhook it and hook it back up every time..

i bought this as a gift for my husband who is a big music lover. our computer crashed about a year and a half ago and he lost all of his music. i thought that this would be the perfect way to keep his music safe. i was right he loves this external hard drive. my brother in law helped me find this on ebay and it was a really great price, now because he is happy i am happy.he loves every thing about it he said that he could not have gotten a better gift.
