It wouuld be difficult for me to truly describe the wonderful shock that is The West Wing's final season. I, like so many, had given up on The West Wing when Aaron Sorkin left, wished the show cancelled during its atrocious 5th season, and, honestly, found the show an irritating fantasy during the Sorkin-helmed 4th season anyway. Something astonishing happens during "The Ticket," the season's first episode - you feel, in its incredible pacing, structure, and emotional understatement - that Aaron Sorkin has not only returned but has regained all of his abilities as a writer. That he is not at all involved with the show means that writers like Eli Attie and Deborah Cahn have finally gotten their work as writers to both revive the lightning-quick trademarks of The West Wing while also justifying the often-unswallowable plot maneuvers of its previous two seasons. It occurred to me during "Message of the Week," a nimble and thrilling episode, that campaign-trail politics had never been so accurately represented, if they'd truly ever been attempted at all. That means The West Wing had found a reason to exist again, and that sense invigorated all the stories it surrounded - the White House's "leak" story, or the regional conflict between Kazhakstan and China. And, in a winning surprise, it also revived its still extraordinary cast - Bradley Whitford especially turns the stress of campaigning into a frayed study of stress and exhaustion, and with Janeane Garofalo at his side, he finds a sparring partner of incredible energy. The two's chemistry makes the workplace seem as vital a beast as this White House ever seemed in its prime.

My favorite show ever,,, so far
Review created: 08/26/09

Aaron Sorkin is now pretty well known for engaging story lines, reasonably complicated sub plots and GREAT casting. This entire series is a joy to watch and requires that you pay attention the whole time. There are lots of elements to each episode that give the series "Something for Everyone". Issues, pathos, emotion, comedy, suspense, education and GREAT snappy dialogue,; it's all there.
If you get a chance to own a season, or even ALL of them, do it. If you have an interest in politics this series is an investment you won't be sorry you made. I've been enjoying HOURS of great entertainment.
Thanks for letting me gush,
Gregory Franklyn

  West Wing Seventh Season
Review created: 08/17/09

A fine finish to one of the best shows that has graced the TV screen. The live debate, the return of old character favorites, the untimely death of John Spencer and the fitting tribute to his Leo McGarry character, and closure to the Josh/Donna and CJ/Danny relationships were great highlights. And the series closes out in grand style with the inauguration of a new president and the bond he forges with his campaign rival.

GREAT TV.

My daughter gave my husband the first 6 years of the West Wing for Xmas. Had never watched the show, but we have been glued to watching it every chance we can, so I had to order the complete 7th year of the series. We have 3 discs let and it will be over. I'm going to miss it. Don't know how I will spend my time once it is over. Fantastic show, great cast.

I am fascinated how much fiction pre-described our presidential election reality. I love West Wing and enjoy it without commercials.

Final Season goes back to its roots!
Review created: 04/05/09

The West Wing/7th Season is a must buy! The series, which owes its genesis to the movie, The American President, is probably the best and most detailed study of the happenings at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ever created for popular culture.

The seventh and final season brought back the sharp feistiness of the Sorkin/Schlamme days. Nearly all the main character stories were resolved; however, the Charlie/Zoe storyline was left hanging. This series was definitely not worthy of such a cowardly decision. (While it could be debated that Charlie was not a main character, the relationship was a major storyline over several seasons and worthy of a definitive resolution.)

John Spencer's death was an ironic and unexpected blow to the series. I'm glad that "Leo McGarry" was remembered in a way that was befitting both the character and the man who portrayed him.

Without a doubt, the entire series is a definite keeper!

  DVD Shipped With Little Protection
Review created: 01/07/09
by:

The 6-DVD set arrived quickly and in fair condition. The package was contained in a paper mailing envelope. Inside, the retail shelf package was still shrink-wrapped and unopened, but one corner of the printed cardboard carton had a noticeable ding. After opening this package to inspect the discs (which were flawless), the hub of one of the three 2-disc tray/holders was found cracked in shipping. The brittle pieces of this hub had fallen into the back of the clear acrylic tray, leaving its disc loose. Luckily, the disc had not shifted enough to cause any scratches on the playing side. Still, the hub cannot be repaired and these types of disc trays cannot be obtained anywhere in small quantity. It's too bad that the seller did not add some padding in the shipping envelope to cushion and protect the acrylic trays from this kind of breakage. Or better still they should ship in a bubble-pack envelope instead.

  West Wing Complete Seventh Season

This has got to be the best TV produced program about the US Presidency. What
confuses me is how Martin Sheen can be such a strong anti-american protestor,
yet play the role of president so great. At any rate, you can't go wrong with
this program.

  Cute Guys and Great Dialog
Review created: 04/01/08

This is a fast paced drama with a bunch of great looking characters.
Dule Hill, Martin Sheen is absolutely gorgeous, even if he is short.
Bradley Whitford is cute even with his receding hairline. And the late John Spencer... He was a wonderful wonderful actor. This last season opens with an epilog, where the main characters show what they are doing three years later. It is great to know that the characters you loved for seven years ended up with great lives. Watch it!

I was missing my old friends Josh, Toby,Donna and that wonderful feeling that you had when you watched this show. So I purchased the Seventh Season. There are some wonderful episodes in this season. Including the live debate. This was also the last season with John Spencer I miss him most of all. One of their best years and unfortunately the last. This is definately a must have for any West Wing Fan.
