West Wing: The Complete Series Collection (DVD, 2006)

I bought this because I loved the show and am a avid collector of Presidential memorabilia. This paticular set I bought was fake. It was pirated in China and sold to me without the permission of Warner Home Video and violated several federal copyright laws. Luckily EBAY shut the seller down. It was a battle to get my money back and I hope that EBAY will take measures to prevent the future piracy of the American economy.

The product was not as pictured or promised. It was an import from China (this was not stated) and not the one pictured in the add. The discs seem OK from the few I tested. The outside packaging was not only different then the one pictured on the ad (which was the one sold in the US) but the inside box did not include the booklet that should come with the set and there is no scene or show index to find a specific episode and there 44 discs. This was purchsed as a gift and I am embarressed to pass it on.

This is absolutely THE place to “bitch” about the sellers! It is one place that prospective buyers might look for info… and find out how many times buyers are ripped off by some fraudulent sellers! The “bad apples” here on ebay do definitely spoil things for the rest of the honest folks!
I’ve been warning bidders for months now when the China version of West Wing shows up. If we only rely on ebay to guard us from the scammers… well we will all be stuck with the crap that comes from the east! This product may not have lead based paint on it but it’s still gonna poison us!
When looking for a good copy of the West Wing (one of the best, most entertaining television series ever made!) look for the DARK BLUE box with the presidential seal on the front! Or look for the individual seasons with various cover photos. The red and silver box is from CHINA!! The Chinese version will work on most newer DVD players… BUT… it will not contain the many hours of extra material, or the complete series synopsis, and the complete script to season one! Some folks don’t care about the “extras”, but why not get them anyway? This is a distinctly American TV series that the entire world seems to love!
Some of the fraudulent sellers have gone elsewhere. Fewer Chinese copies of West Wing now show up.
Please please lets make ebay a community that can be trusted! Not filled with ripoff scammers and peddlers of foreign junk some get stuck with and end up hating and distrusting ebay!

The series The West Wing was very close to reality! It gave us an inside peek into the daily goings on in bigtime politics. Why are there so many poor quality ripoff sets coming from China?
People need to educate themselves on these and not throw $100 plus away on a Chinese version that lacks so much that is in the legitimate US version.
The dark blue boxed set with 45 DVD's (including over 21 hours of extra materials) just doesn't cost much, if any, more than these foreign ripoffs of inferior quality!
Why are there so many imported DVD's offered on Ebay? If they are advertised as such it's ok... but when they are deceptively offered that makes them illegal and should not be sold! Ebay and Paypal condone this practice and it should be stopped! Buyers beware because Paypal will not protect your purchase!

This person eagerly took my money then proceeded to hand me line after line about a medical condition that kept them from shipping me my item.
Convieniently, the lies lasted for two months, just the amount of time it takes for Ebay to no longer allow a person to get thier money back.
I trusted these people, heck, I actually felt bad for them, and in the end, I was taken to the cleaners, for caring about a pack of lies, as well as the liars who told them.

This product is a bad Chinese copy of the original. The disks came in called the "Wert Wing". Obviously a rip off with no residuals going to the producers at all. I tried several times to get through to e-bay to suggest they investigate and there is no avenue that allows it and no phone numbers to call to reach a real person. Package came from Shanghai and custom description read MP3 player. There are no disks of the behind the sceen info that I was looking forward to. If I had known it wasn't a true authorized version and had everything included as advertised, I would never have bought it.

I bought the whole series of west wing from ebay. It was months before I discovered it was possibly a fake. One episode skipped but in general they all played well and have subtitles if needed in various languages. It's packaged in a red box and the disks look original. One series looks a bit thrown together. I watched them all in sequence.It took several months. Perhaps I am wrong and it isn't a fake. Anyhow I paid about £50 before postage, so I cannot complain. Series 7 was thrown together by producers and did not ring true. Enjoyable nonsense though. I am glad I did not pay more. I was hoping to resell on ebay later in the year. What should I do? It is possible to watch 1 DVD per night which is 4 episodes, because the adverts are missing. Producer's directory doesnt appear to work though. Does anyone know why that is?
They seem to run out of ideas quickly and the first three series are excellent. When the original writer left, he took most of the ideas with him!
i have now replaced the missing disc with an original and sorted out any problems. It is now a year later and all in all I am pleased to have bought the item. I wont try to resell on EBAY in case it is a pirated copy. Might even watch it again!

As only up to season 5 released in Australia on DVD although last episode of series 7 shown on Saturday night here, thought I'd treat myself to complete series of my favourite show. What a shock when it arrived today and it is a Chinese version and was mailed from China. The ad for it said it was being shipped from the US. Have discovered seller's rights cancelled. A Chinese and obviously fake set of no use. I hope that Ebay will help me get my money back.

This TV series was a classic example of what primetime drama should be. I loved it!! The story lines were intelligent, elegantly funny and often mirrored current events. I thoroughly enjoyed the acting as well. If you love great drama and fine acting, you will love The West Wing too!!

Horrible. Paid for the item and never received the videos. No contact from seller. I was scammed. I do not recommend doing any business with this person.

The West Wing is quite possibly one of the most engaging series that ever debuted on network television. The series showcases the harsh realities, stresses and political intrigue that engage the American Presidency. The United States is unique in that it is the only surviving presidential republic form of democracy on the planet. All other western democracies use a parliamentary system with a prime minister - the difference being that a Prime Minister does not have as much power as a presidential figure does.

The show does take a staunch pro-democrat stance on the issues presented to the white house, as this party in American Politics is arguably a more progressive, and more controversial platform than right wing, smaller government conservatives would like to see. The show manages to take all the boring things about government: tax relief, human rights, nuclear weapons, gun control, abortion, school prayer, gay rights, and a host of other issues and brings the struggles and history being made behind each issue into a fun-to-watch, laughable, and engaging exercise that seven seasons cannot do justice to.

This is a must have for the serious West Wing fan. Each disc has 4 episodes so you can sit back and watch for 2 to 3 hours without changing discs.

some of the disks didn't work and the Disk said Weat wing instead of West wing. I will not buy from from this person again, and you said I couldn't report or send a reply to them

I hated any and all politics ... and then this show. OMG, this is the best televistion drama ever. It seemed (in a way) real to me. That's how great it is. Great righting, acting, direction - everything. Get this on DVD now!!!

Looks like I feel for the same scam. I bought the complete set of West Wing early this year. It arrived in a red box (China?) with silver seal. The disks inside seemed to be ok, labeled ok but loose in the box...that made me a bit suspicious.

I gave the set to my sister, back in MA, so I wasn't aware that key parts are missing...but she's already notified me that disk #16 is a dud...an opening and then blank. She's trying to borrow one from the local library, and has already told me that the sequence numbers are different. The library version is recorded on both sides..the one I have is single-sided.

So it appears that I too was scammed by whoever it was who sold on Ebay.
It's good to hear that enough of you complained that Ebay did take action to stop the frauds. And it is also not surprising that Paypal's so-called insurence" was effectively useless. I've heard that before..several times.

DVD's all in great condition and packaged well, however, delivery seemed a little slow. We contacted the seller several times about delivery and got no response. I had given up on delivery and was ready to satrt a claim when the dvd's arrived.

I received a fraudulent product. PayPal was useless in resolving the problem (despite their buyer protection, which is also effectively a hoax) and I lost my money.

Nothing to say; I'm kinda busy watching the whole 7 seasons again. Here it comes, The West Wing marathon! Great service, great DVDs, great content. Thanks a lot.

I owned the first six seasons and debated over simply buying the final season or getting this new set. I sold my others so I could have all seven seasons in this set. I'm so glad I did. This set is nice because the earlier seasons which were on double sided disc are now on singles. If you got into the West Wing late you can start from the beginning and see the whole thing. The artwork, casing and pilot script are great as well. Any fan of the West Wing would love this set.

I'm obviously a fan of the West Wing thus I purchased the complete series. I don't even watch regular television anymore, truth. Aaron Sorkin is a gifted writer and every member of the cast is top knotch. In my opinion, the best television series of all-time. I would change only one thing and that's the writing for the final season. Wouldn't of gone w/ the Santos for President story. That kind of turned me off and I don't believe I watched an episode the final season. Oh well, perfection they did not attain but they've gotten closer than any other show I can remember.

Comprehensive. Ability to catch up on missed episodes and/or to watch episodes back to back. The freedom to "rewind" if you miss a piece of dialog b/c the writing is sometimes dense with dialog. Absolutely love it.

Finally the full series set! Great packaging and great price! The booklets are great too! Kinda reading along with the pilot script while watching it. I really miss this show!
