  A Nice Addition to a Girl's Collection
Review created: 12/09/08

This is a nice book. For those of us who are trying to teach historical concepts and lessons along with the collecting of the dolls, it definitely expands on the story books. It has a lot of quality photos and illustration that hold the attention of young readers and gives parents a lot of talking points and opportunities to educate on pioneer life and times.

American Girl Kirsten, book, Welcome to Kirstens World
Review created: 11/06/08

Every young girl who loves adventure would be enveloped by the entire American Girl series! This particular book tells about the life of Kirsten, back in the year 1854. There are beautiful, detailed, pictures that help a young reader to visualize the detailed descriptions of the way things were for a girl in the 1800s. It tells of the way girls dressed, the chores they had to do daily, the way they traveled, and how they were able to communicate with friends and family (there werent cells phones then!) It tells short stories of things that Kirsten did in her lifetime, who her best friends were, and what her favorite animal or pet she had. There are also other short story books about her birthday, surprises, sticky situations, and other things. This particular book is an overview of all these other things. I have purchased 2 American Girl Dolls now, and have the "Welcome To" books along with the short story books that are also available. The descriptive writings and detailed pictures make this a VERY good book, and I will continue to look for other American Girl products like this one. My daughter is 10 years old and has been interested in American Girl for 2 years already, and still is.

This book was a wonderful investment. My little 5 year old Granddaughter just loves it. So much great information, for a child and for an adult. I decided to buy it for the title and I got so much more then I thought. and the seller was so nice, and easy to work with. Thank You Reverend Deborah K.

  Welcome to Kirsten's World, 1854
Review created: 03/06/08

This is a beautiful picture book in the American Girl series that explores the pre-Civil War pioneer times of Kirsten. With 58 pages, it is like a walk through a museum with a tour guide who points out the most interesting information. The content is aimed at girls who are just old enough to enjoy chapter books on their own, but I'm a grandmother, and I think it's wonderful. Even the cover of this hard-bound book is beautifully illustrated, and I display it on a shelf beside my American Girl doll display. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys history, especially girls with an interest in the American Girl books and dolls.

The history quality of this series has been a treasure in content that my daughter and myself have really appreciated. We are using these with our American Girl curriculum for homeschooling this year.
