Fun, Light Reading for Locals
The Wierd Michigan book was written by a Michigander - but like many of the Michigan books and other resources, has a distinct bias toward the eastern (Detroit) side of the state. While there are also many references that Yoopers will appreciate, the majority of the items are Saginaw / Detroit and area.
As an "outstate Troll" (Living out of Detroit but under the bridge" I was glad to see the Kalamazoo State Hospital stories, as well as the Bowers Harbor ghosts.
All in all, a good quick read, and interesting. Unlike some other "Wierd" books (such as California), the focus is on history and ghosts, not roadside attraction, leaving it much less useful as a travel guide, and more useful as a local history tour.
