This book is lifechanging. I loved it!! Gwen Shamblin has shared the simple truths on how to be free from overeating or running to food for comfort instead of God. I lost over 100 pounds, and am in a size 6. I don't even think about food unless I am hungry. You can do this. I have had it off for over 3 years. There is a website with more information. www.wdworkshop.com

Eating less, praying more, living large, not extra large!
Review created: 09/10/07(updated 09/10/07)

Jesus said, "I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly!"
I'm living LARGE, not EXTRA LARGE!
No more measuring. No more counting. No more GUILT!
Forget about all of those diets on TV- eat all you want and lose weight. Forget about those diet pills that aren't good for the body. Forget about weighing in front of strangers.
Learn how to eat what you want and love when you're truly hungry. Learn how to eat until you're just enough full- not stuffed and miserable. Learn how to pray to the Father instead of turning to food when life gets too stressful, too painful, or too _____ ( you fill in the blank).
I love this book! For the first time, I don't feel guilty enjoying pizza, french fries, fried chicken, or a milk shake. I've learned that I don't need that second hamburger. I don't need another helping when the first fills me up. I eat just enough to get full.
I've learned to listen to my body's cues that I need to eat and when I need to quit. My size 16's are getting loose quickly! I'm not going to the gym. I hate to work out, and you don't have to either to lose the weight. I was amazed at how AWESOME I felt the first time I ate "just enough." I can't say that I haven't been hungry. I have! BUT, when I get hungry, I EAT! What other diet plan allows you to choose what to eat, when to eat it?
Yep, I'm living LARGE! LOOK OUT MEDIUM, HERE I COME!
With God, all things are possible!

This book will set you free from overweight and dieting forever!!! Change your mindset on the amount of food you actually need to live. Eat like a thin eater and not just like someone always on a diet. This changed my life and gave me a closer walk with God!!! I lost over 50 lbs and have kept it off.

This book is a front for a cult called the Remnant. I taught a WD class in my church in the late 90's. Some of the tips like 'sipping between each bite' were the most helpful for me to stay slim during pregnancy. I threw my book away after the author, Gwen Shamblin, began forcing her employees to join 'her' church. I noticed that the new class video's were very focused on Gwen, like she was a celebrity. I personally know 2 of the people she fired for not agreeing with her spiritual theology. Unfortunately, a good message was muddied with greed and power. I tossed all my WD material because I was so mortified! You can find stories of abuse from WD on the web.

  The Weigh Down Diet

Someone gave me this book. It is so good and easy to understand that I bought 2 more for friends. This is a spiritual walk with the Lord. The author helps explain the basics of learning how to understand to wait on hungry and not get all caught up in the way of the world. Eat when you are hungry not because it is there, or it is 8 a.m. or noon or 5 p.m. She explains how we have lost track of our internal instincts and have gotten too involved with the fascination of eating for fun and not eating to live. This is the ultimate diet book.

This book was extremely helpful in giving me the understanding of why I've struggled with being on a diet. I always knew there had to be another way, and Gwen shed much light on when, how and what to eat. Learning that there was a natural hunger and a spiritual hunger really brought enlightenment to me. I would recommend this book and her program to anyone.

When I first read this book nearly 6 years ago, I was amazed at the simplicity of the message. What a concept! I knew I had finally found the answer to my struggle with being overweight.
Thank God for the truth, told in such a simple, totally inoffensive and healing way!

You have to ignore the nutrition advice about what constitutes a well-balanced diet (or food, for that matter). Aside from that, it is an excellent tool. The author's attitudes toward food and the spiritual implications of it are beautiful and work great.

  Lose Weight God's Way-
Review created: 01/10/08

This is certainly the best weight loss book I've ever read. It is God inspired and it works, if you are obedient to Gwen's instructions and God's help. You will lose the weight. What I love about this book is that it is realistic it does not involve counting calories, eating diet foods, nor having to drink 8 glasses of water a day. It's practical and it makes so much sense; once you start reading the book you will be thanking God you did and excited about the new you that is coming forth. I became aware of this program in 1990 lost weight but because my heart was not right with God I gained the weight back in 4 years. I am now back on the program and have lost approx 10 lbs and will continue to lose until I've lost all the weight I need to lose. I purchased several copies to give to other people who wanted to lose weight God's way.

This book's principles took 20 pounds off of my body in 2 weeks while on vacation. I lost an additional 60 pounds in 6 months. No exercise is needed and I can eat anything I want. No meal plans, no special shakes, no pills, no counting calories or fat grams, or carbs and no expensive food. No surgeries! It's all natural and it's principles are one that every human being should know especially if one is overweight. I wish I knew about this book in my twenties but thank God that I know about it now.

EXCELLENT BOOK. FINALLY A NON-DIET THAT WORKS!
Review created: 03/25/09(updated 03/25/09)

I have dieted my entire life -- over 40 years since age 14! I can successfully diet, but keeping weight off is another thing. I didn't know how to eat when I wasn't dieting, so eventually the weight always came back on. Although I have only been on this "lifestyle" for 2-3 weeks, I have not been counting calories, grams of fat or carbohydrates, etc. And, believe me I know the calorie content of just about every food there is. I am maintaining my weight while eating what I am hungry for. The problem is stopping when my body has received a sufficient amount of food. I am learning to stop when I am satisfied -- not keeping on eating because I have "head hunger!!" That was the problem. I was overeating because I needed something more. Food satisfied for a while. But, only God can truly satisfy EVERY need!!! Give this book a chance, you will not regret it.

This is not a diet, but a way of life. A must read!
Review created: 11/05/08
by:

For anyone struggling with weight loss or gain, this is the book for you. It's about a way of life, not another fad diet, despite the book title. Gluttony is a sin and Gwen isn't afraid to tell you the truth about what the Bible says about overeating and our idolatry with food. If you want to lose weight and KEEP it off, this is the book for you. You can also apply these principles to anorexia, bulimia, alcoholism, smoking, or any other addiction. Enjoy!

  HOW EASY CAN IT GET
Review created: 06/11/08
by:

My great grandparents all lived to a ripe old age. All were pretty thin and healthy and not once did they even consider an aerobics or kickboxing class...counting calories, weighing food or using exchanges. These concepts were foreign to them. They ate whatever was available to them. My mom says she can remember eating the cream right off the top of the milk for a treat. We have so much garbage being put into our food AND taken out of our food, that nothing is whole anymore. Gwens precept is to eat any food, but in moderation. Eat only when you are hungry. Pretty simple and basic if you ask me. Food was not in abundance years ago, so our families ate when they were hungry and were satified with what they had. NO DRIVE THRU, no fast food. God created whole foods and said "it is good". Stick to what is grown and real and eat only when you are hungry-quit when you are satisfied....You cant lose.
God created food for us, it is not bad.

This book retails for $12 in the store. I was able to get it for under $1 plus a few pennies for shipping. The book looked like new. Let me see..$12 or 50 cents....hmm..sounds like a nobrainer to me. I have bought other things too, and have never been disappointed.
