Wealth of Nations - the basis of our entire economy.

This is a re-read for me, having originally read this some thirty years ago. If one understands Smith's concepts of how wealth is created, how it moves, how to protect it, and other such ideas, one will always prosper. I have been re-reading this, comparing/contrasting Smith to what is going on in our current economy. Smith is right on target.

I recommend The Wealth of Nations to anyone who has an interest in how our economy works, or is supposed to work. He discusses the pitfalls, many of which we are experiencing now, and their likely outcome. Smith is not a high energy broker, salesman, financial advisor, or broker. Adam Smith simply wrote the book which our entire economy is based upon.

Buy the book, read it.

A Classic Read from the Father of Economics
Review created: 08/30/09

I took economics during the summer and decided to do some reading to get a better understanding. I was actually surprised at how thick the book was when I got it in the mail because the picture was stock photo. So if you are looking at some light reading, then you're dead wrong. This book is several hundred pages long. As a result, I am still reading the book, but it is very well-written. Smith did not scratch out some random notes when he wrote this book. He carefully structured the entire book as though he wrote an essay. Each page is packed with details so each concept of the free market is explained with such great detail. The concept of the invisible hand is explained in about 20 pages. I highly recommend this book for all business majors. Thanks for reading and be sure to check out my other reviews.
