Good Disc To Get Started On Sabbath

This is where heavy metal started. Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler have influenced every major metal act. And not a bad bunch of guys to be influenced by. This is the first Sabbath CD I ever bought, and I wore the thing out, literally. I had it in my car, my walkman, and my home stereo. Eventually it got so many scratches on it I had to buy another. It's loaded with Sabbath's most recognizable songs like Sweat Leaf, Paranoid, and War Pigs. If you want Black Sabbath's greatest hits (with Ozzy of course), this is probably the best one. But at the same time, I'd recommend buying all their studio albums instead, because they have so many other good songs that aren't on this disc.

  Black Sabbath define heavy metal
Review created: 03/24/09

This album is not a complete set of songs that illustrate the magic and ferosity of Black Sabbath, but a very adequate cross section of their best tunes. I am not a fan of Dio at all, and I'm not sure you can even call that band that formed when Ozzy left to be Black Sabbath at all... it was more Grey Sunday... this is Black Sabbath! This band defined what heavy metal was and still influences bands today. Some songs of note on this, NIB, the Wizard, Snowblind, not to mention the classics like Iron Man, Paranoid, and War pigs. These guys captured a dark element and transformed it into original music that is heavy as it is rhythmic, and sincerely rebellious as any music you will find young people listening to. If you call yourself a hessian, and don't have this album, you should stop doing the finger horn gesture until you acquire this and all the rest of their (pre-Dio) albums!

  Am I Going Insane

This is the way metal was meant to be. A lot of bands tried but nobody could hold a candle to early Black Sabbath. We Sold Our Soul For Rock N' Roll contains some of the best early Sabbath tunes and is the perfect album to pick up it you want to take a little trip down memory lane. The only problem I have with the CD version is that for space reasons they cut out two tracks that were on the cassette and LP releases of this album. Still, this one gets 5 Stars.

One of Black Sabbaths most excellant works. This has all of the most poular songs from the Ozzy era. From Tony Iommis wailing guitar riffs to the swirling resonance of the harmonica in the wizard this album promises to deliver. This is a sure-fire bet for any Black Sabbath fan.

The best of the best when it comes to Sabbath

No question, this is HANDS DOWN the best Sabbath recording of all times. I used my Sabbath Bloody Sabbath CD for target practice after getting this one. With Black Sabbath greats like "Sweet Leaf, Iron Man, Black Sabbath, Ferries Wear Boots, War Pigs" and so many others it's the bomb. If your a Black Sabbath fan or just a metal head like me, this is the one you want.

  Black Sabbath CD 1988
Review created: 01/30/08

What I did like about it is that it was easy to find for a gift for a family member. I disliked it after the gift was opened and my family member played it and found out that it had a scratch and couldn't play the full CD. I decided to buy it because it was a title that my family member had been trying to find for himself.
