Watchmen (Blu-ray Disc, 2009, Director's Cut)

I saw the previews for this movie and was very excited. I heard this also came from an original comic series.

I was bored after about ten minutes of this movie. It seemed to be very long and hard to keep with the plot of the movie. The ending was a little wierd!

There was hardly no action in this movie other than the very beginning and the ending. There was a lot of drama that was hard to follow. The characters were about the most interesting thing of this movie.

I basically compare this movie to X-Men and it did not even come close to competition. This movie was terrible and is not worth even watching! I can't even explain the plot of the movie because, to me, there was none.

Hopefully the comic was more exciting!

Outsanding, This one really surprised me! Had me glued to my seat, Totally skipped dinner. you've got to at lease rent it, this is way beyond Batman.

Watchmen stars Billy Crudup (Mission: Impossible III), Jackie Earle Haley (The Bad News Bears), and Matthew Goode (Chasing Liberty).

This is a dark story of an alternate america where a bunch of retired super heros set out to discover who murdered one of their kind. Along the way the discover they are all on the endangered list as someone (or something) wants to rid the world of all superheroes.

The movie is pretty dark in that it has a lot of adult type situations that may be unsuitable for younger viewers so you may want to pass on this if you have younger viewers who will watch it.

If you are into the comic book superhero type magazines, like The Dark Knight, you will absolutely love this movie as it is entertaining. The only drawback is it is rather long.

Everybody's favorite graphic novel comes to the screen (after years of rumors and false starts), less a roaring work of adaptation than a respectful and faithful take on a radical original. Watchmen is set in the mid-1980s, a time of increased nuclear tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, as Richard Nixon is enjoying his fifth term as president and the world's superheroes have been forcibly retired. (As you can probably tell, the mix of authentic history and alternate reality is heady.) Things begin with a bang: the mysterious high-rise murder of the Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a masked hero with a checkered past, puts the rest of the retired superhero community on alert. The credits sequence, a series of tableaux that wittily catches us up on crime-fighting backstory, actually turns out to be the high point of the movie. Thereafter we meet the other caped and hooded avengers: the furious Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley), the inexplicably naked Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup, amidst much blue-skinned, genital-swinging digital work), Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman), Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson), and Ozymandias (Matthew Goode). The corkscrewing storytelling, which worked well in the comic book, gives the movie the strange sense of never quite getting in gear, even as some of the episodes are arresting. Director Zack Snyder (300) doesn't try to approximate the electric impact of the original (written by Alan Moore--who declined to be credited on the movie--and illustrated by Dave Gibbons) but retains careful fidelity to his source material. That doesn't feel right, even with the generally enjoyable roll-out of anecdotes. Even less forgivable is the blah acting, excepting Jeffrey Dean Morgan (lusty) and Patrick Wilson (mellow). Watchmen certainly fills the eyes, although less so the ears: the song choices are regrettable, especially during an embarrassing mid-air coupling between Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre II as they unite their--ah--Roman numerals. In the end it feels as though a huge work of transcription has been successfully completed, which isn't the same as making a full-blooded movie experience.

Watchmen is one of my favorite movies of all time. I had to have it on blu ray.
the director's cut is just amazing. if you havent seen it or you don't own it, wake up & enjoy one the best movies of all time! you won't be dissapointed.10 out of 10.

Excellent movie!! Directors cut even longer and more story. Goes more in depth about who the heroes are and some key element. The ultimate cut is coming out november so i would wait for that pone but if you cant get this. It is worth it!!

Reason for buying: It was selling for a good price on eBay.

I did like the price and condition of the disk. However, I just don't like reproducing poor quality and non-original covers so I never buy items that are listed lower then "Like New". I don't like being lead on thinking a slip cover was included when it was not, so please start listing your products correctly and getting back to your customers when we attempt to contact you through to proper channels. As for the movie, it was a rush!!

I liked it a lot, I liked how they told a story of what the world would actually be like if there were super heroes and I thought that was cool. The directors cut kinda helped you understand a bit more of the story.

A superhero movie with a darker side to it so keep the young ones away from this one. Good special effects worthy of a blu-ray disc and player. A little long in the tooth, but good fight scenes and plot twists. Overall I enjoyed this movie and recommend it.

Watchmen is a visually breathtaking movie with great sound & effects.
It would probably have been better served broken up into 2 or 3 parts, but
it is still satisfying & thought provoking

This is only the 2nd blu-ray movie that I've bought but I am very happy with this purchase. Since I was a fan of the graphic novel, I thought it would make my view about this movie biased but this movie is for anyone really. The story is inviting and very well thought through. Every aspect in this alternate world is covered and covered well. The extras on the blu-ray just add to the experience. I especially oked the fact that I can watch the movie with commentary and insight from the director. Overall, this is a must buy, whether you're a movie collector or a movie lover.

Great graphic novel adaptation. Not too short on story line and strong CG visuals. Add a twist at the end and you have a very enjoyable couple of hours.

Technically this item has and will not be bought. The seller never communicated additional charges he/she planned on adding once the auction was over. I communicated to the seller this was unacceptable and I would not purchase the item under the new conditions. I have yet to hear from the seller on whether they accepted my concern or not.

i decided to buy this movie because i have a new blu ray player.shipping is fast.and its cheaper than the store.

Which isn't saying much... Watchmen doesn't translate to the screen well at all, and that is because it was meant to reinvent the comic book and hero tale as we know it, not make great cinema. That being said, the blu ray presentation is stunning. Sound is off the charts, and image quality is amazing.

Once again, a movie I will watch with the Fast Forward button down, and the sound system cranked...

Watchmen is the superhero movie for those who don't like superhero movies. If films such as Iron Man, The Hulk and The Dark Knight fail to resonate with you, perhaps this is the movie to see. I had never personally read the graphic novel until after having seen the film, though I had read comic books that similarly deconstructed the superhero mythos, such as Rick Veitch's Brat Pack and Marshal Law; that said, I feel the movie is fairly faithful to the source material, and what license is taken is generally to the betterment of the film. Aesthetically, the film is stunning, and this is particularly evident on Blu-ray. While this isn't my absolute favorite film to be adapted from a graphic novel (were I forced to create a hierarchy I would place Road to Perdition above it, for example), it certainly deserves to be placed in the top ten. While a long movie, it is rarely ponderous; I have even watched it twice since having purchased the Blu-ray (subsequent to having seen it in the theater), something I rarely do. My recommendation: see this film.

A good movie that really respects the original Alan Moore's comic, and the blu-ray quality make it even better.

I loved the movie when I watched it in theaters, and now that I have it at home its even better. Awesome special features and looks great on the Blu-ray player. A must have for any collection.

Well I had read the noble and comics, but this movie is great, thanks for the waiting, it was good, great. Sometimes is better to wait, the wait was long, but well worth it. I tell you guys guys something not let your kids watch the sex part, they will ask to many questions, but after that, I got no complaints.

With Russell Crowe as the heavy who runs the show from the background and Leonardo DiCaprio as the incredibly efficient, street savvy operative working the pieces and running the show on the ground, you instantly get the feeling that you're in for a fast-paced, white-knuckle ride as you're led through a maze of dirty streets and crowded alley's of a middle-eastern country locale. The taut script and the unpredictable twists in the story-line of this jaw-dropping movie fills you with all of the suspense and drama that can only be pulled of by an impeccable cast that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat through-out. This is a well directed movie and it brings me face to face with all the conspiracy's, fears and the extreme realities that are ever present in the middle eastern countries today.

Excellent film if your looking for more human-like emotion from super heroes. The special effects were great. Throughout the movie, there is bit too much of flashback scenes, but it helps the character development. If you have no idea about what this is about, I recommend at least a quick skim of the graphic novel before watching this.
