Watchers by Dean Koontz (2003, Paperback, Reissue)

I love how Dean Koontz writes. He's not a story teller by any means....instead he puts you, the reader in the story and you experience all the angst the characters do. The characters tend to be very good and likable or very evil and ironically enough still likable and I feel Dean Koontz finds good in every one even the bad guys...This book seemed to me, to be other books hacked up to make a new one. Three quarters of the way through I stopped reading and said to myself "do I really care what happens to these people" and my answer was a definite "NO"
I also know that it won't stop me from reading more of hios books because he never fails to entertain.

This book is why I have a Golden Retriever named Einstein today. I read it approximately 20 years ago and then again a few years back after coming across it in a antique bookstore. I enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. After reading it, I looked up Golden Retrievers online and decided it was the breed for me. My "Einstein" has been a blessing and I thank Dean Koontz for that.
I have read his novels ever since reading Watchers, but that book will always have a very special place in my heart.
I enjoyed it the first time and 2nd time and since then I have bought the CD and plan on listening to it with my husband.
The TV movie version was awful. I know Dean Koontz must have been disappointed. I was. It misrepresented the characters and never got it right. Please don't ever watch the movie, you will be heartbroken that they could massacre such a beautiful novel. I hope one day Dean Koontz will be inspired enough to write a continuation as good as the first!! Mr. Koontz, I thank you and so does my "Einstein"!!!
