Watchers by Dean Koontz (1999, Hardcover, Prebinding)

Though not the Koontz book that got me started, definitely the book that had me hooked! I picked this book up in a grocery store on a Beach vacation to fill in the gaps during a week of sun. Once I started to read, I didn't put it down until the end! For those who love well-developed characters, this is a must-read.

For dog-lovers, this is an endearing book. Though set between the pages of a Sci-Fi Koontz novel, it is a story of love and admiration between man and dog. The dog, through laboratory research, has gained the knowledge of man. And through man, gained the knowledge of communication.

Man and man's best friend pair together to become the heroes of this action-packed novel. This common pair fights to overcome man's most evil creation, but not without finding sympathy and understanding for that very creation. To witness the "communication" between man and beast on a human level is touching. Man and dog both find love, and touch upon each other's lives in a way never before told.

The book evokes tears and laughter, all the while staying true as one of Koontz' page-turning thrillers!
