Great movie! If you liked the Professional; don't miss this one. Jean Reno plays a Dirty Harry type French policeman. There's action, humor, even some touching moments in a story that shows how quick your life can change. Wrote and produced by Luc Besson; who gave us the Professional and The Fifth Element.

) I must like Jean Reno because I bought this movie after having rented it on NetFlix. Jean Reno is also in 2 of my other favorite movies "Jet Lag" with Juliette Binoche and "Ronin" with Robert DiNero both worth watching again.
"Wasabi" is fast paced, fun, sentimental, corny and always interesting to watch and with some great views of Tokyo and Japan, a very different and interesting country and culture.
It has a really good, scary (and scarred) bad guy and some silly comic relief.
Ryoko Hirosue is adorable and a little vixen tear jerker, humorously dressed and shoed finally meeting her long lost "papa".
It's fun, happy and uplifting. I don't think anyone could really eat as much real wasabi without having a good choking/coughing fit though.
Try "Wasabi", no sushi required.

) I love this movie, its well acted, has a lot of comedy, action and good feelings. It makes me laugh and cry but leaves me with a warm feeling in the end. I watch movies to be entertained, this movies does the trick.
This is actually my third copy of this movie, my daughter moved out and took her copy, she did pay for it so I couldn't complain too much, I leant my replacement copy to my boss and still haven't gotten it back. I bought this copy used, still hoping to get my other copy back, then I'll lend out my used copy:) This movie is hard to find in the stores, I was very happy to find it on half.com

WASABII love the movie and the DVD was exactly as described. Thanks and awesome movie! Janewt Reno playijng the role of the French detective is awesome. The company who sold me the DVD WASABI movie is great and IU would recommned anyone to buy from them. Please buy this movie its a great action and funny movie!

Wasabi (DVD '03)This is such a great movie, I saw it on a movie channel and never saw it anything of it again. When I saw it on ebay I bought it without a second thought. If you like action, comedy, and Japan you should try "Wasabi".

This is a movie to be enjoyed; it is fast pace, full of humour, touching moments, and action, action, action !!!!
Jean Reno is truly wonderful in this role. He is perfect for the part of a hard no non-sense Police officer who will not buy into being PC (Politically Correct) he is hard nosed, who has the rights of the victims and NOT the criminals. He finds out that he has a daughter from his ex-girlfriend who has a secret which you will find out when you buy and watch the show. Be warned it is very fast action and extremely funny.
Thank-you Jean for letting us see what being a real Policeman is about!!

Love this movie.Taglined, "Quite Possibly The Greatest French-Language, English-Subtitled, Japanese Action-Comedy Of All Time," this police dramedy is action-packed and hilarious at the same time. Jean Reno plays the lovable straight-man to Michel Muller's comic-relief character, Momo, and the over-the-top (and very cute, might I add) Ryoko Hirosue. Reno has always been one of my favorite foreign actors and he catapulted my opinion of his acting ability with this movie, showing that he has comedic talent to go along with his dramatic and action roles.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves foreign films, comedies, action movies, police dramas, movies in general, France, Japan, America, apple pie, golf... ok, I'll stop now.

This movie is just too much fun to watch. Jean Reno is just awesome in this film, The tough rugged cop that takes no **** from anyone, along with his stupid side kick Mo-Mo hahaha This guys is very funny.
In short the story is about a cop (Jean Reno) Who has an undying love for one woman Miko, and no other woman compares. However she vanishes with no reason for her leaving. 20 Years later, Reno gets a call telling him that Miko has passed away. So he heads to Tokyo for the reading of the will, only to discover he has a 19 year old daughter who hates cops, and hates her father even more! Reno decides to keep the fact that he is her dad a secret. This is when things get out of control. Reno discovers that Miko was murdered and that the ones responsible are after his daughter. He is set into action at all costs to protect her.
The dubbing in this film is actually not bad at all, it is great to see the actors dubbed their own voices.

If you liked "Leon/The Professional" you will like this movie. Jean Reno is an amazing actor you is capable of taking on any role. Though he doesn't play the lonely assasin card in this movie, his character is still constantly on guard and ready to kick butt at any moment. And similar to the relationship between Leon and Mathilda, in this movie he finds himself in a similar situation where he goes from being a loner who only looks after himself to suddenly having a teenaged daughter. Any Jean Reno fan will appreciate this movie.

WasabiNow the only problem a person would have with this flick is if you don't like subs. the language changes from french to japanese not much is in english. Other than that comedy, action and a little bit of drama make this movie a must have. I fount out about this movie while searching for different stuff to watch when i had netflix. also it has jean reno the guy from the professional and he is a very good actor. wasabi to me is just a enjoyable movie with violence, comedy and the little bit of drama. in ending all i gotta say is cross dressing bank robbers haha if you buy teh movie you will know what i am talking about

sushi anyone?This perhaps Jean Reno's best film to date. Lots of action, plot easy to follow acting is great. Lots of inside jokes that will make you want to watch it again and again. It is even fun to watch in french! A must have if you like Jean Reno. Soundtrack is great too!

down point it is in a mixture of French and Japanese, so the english dubbing really doesnt match the lip movement. also the subtitles dont match the english dubbing.

Wasabi, written by Luc Besson and starring his perennial leading man, Jean Reno pulls out all of the stops in this action drama. Reno plays Hubert(pronounced Huber), is a Parisian cop whose extreme tactics always land him in more trouble than Starsky and Hutch could ever dream. Hubert's latest antics earn him a suspension. To make matters worse, the love of his life, whom he met in Japan winds up dead. Hubert goes to Tokyo to settle her final wishes,one of them being to look after the daughter he never knew, Yumi, played by Ryoko Hirosue. Michel Muller, plays Hubert's best friend and comic relief, "Momo". This movie has an amazing soundtrack and stellar cast. For those who find humor in the smallest things, if the movie is played in English dubbed mode and the French to English subtitles are on the screen, the inconsistencies alone are worth watching the movie. As per usual, Luc Besson makes a cult film that provides entertainment for his audiences to enjoy. While providing enough action to move the storyline, he delves into Hubert's emotions and giving the hero a second chance at love, not the romance of his dead love, but love, forgiveness, and redemption of his daughter. as an added bonus, the comic relief eases the tension at critical points in the movie. this movie has a high replayability and it is a very cleverly disguised date movie. After I saw the movie for the first time, I knew I had to own it for myself.
