Warnings/Promises by Idlewild (CD, Sep-2005, Capitol/EMI Records)

You can't help but to instantly think of the way more commercially successful band R.E.M. while listening to this release from Idlewild. The review from the record company says it all, but leaves out the fact that this band does have heavier than pop moments, its not really true pop music as described. The lyrics and the way they are delivered are pop but the music gives you more of a rock/ mild punk feel at times. I understand that this band is pretty big in their homeland of Scotland, and reasonably successful in the UK, but here in the US almost nobody that I know has even heard of them, and that is too bad because they really are a talented band. For the price you can get this cd on ebay for a song, pick it up if your looking for something new that still has a bit of a familiar sound.
