Album Notes Green Day: Billie Joe (vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica); Mike Drint (vocals, Farfisa organ, bass); Tre Cool (accordion, drums, percussion). Additional personnel: Benmont Tench, Gary Meek, Mistress Simone. To debate whether or not Green Day truly was or is a punk band in the purest definition of the punk ethic now seems irrelevant. If nothing else, they're a pop band who can't seem to help but write good songs--in the case of WARNING, some really good songs. This album makes up for any missteps the band may have taken since the fluke success of DOOKIE. From the Katrina And The Waves groove of "Castaway" to the Beatles-esque harmonica on "Hold On," WARNING inspires a sense of musical deja vu that never crosses the line into out-and-out thievery. Hands-down, the most interesting track here is "Misery," which struts along with Doors-like quirkiness and goes through a progression of cultural movements that take instrumental turns in the form of deep strings, mariachi brass, and acoustic guitar melodies. If there's a warning to be found here, it's that Green Day has become a real band. Not very punk of them, but promising all the same. Reviews Review created: 07/21/08 by: A brilliant album done by Billie Joe and the boys. In addition to Warning, Minority, Waiting, and Macys Day Parade, many other great songs are waiting to be found on this disk. Every song has a unique song from castaway to misery. Top songs also incude Hold On, Deadbeat Holiday, and the possibly the best song on the album, Church on Sunday. Possibly the finest Green Day album ever, even if youre not a diehard Green Day fan, this truly is a purchase that wont let you down. Review ID: 10000000008041975 Was this review helpful? This is a CD made by my favorite band Green Day, and I bought it because I've heard a couple of the songs that was on it, and I wanted the whole record. It is a quiet early recording (If my memory doesn't fail me), but it's not as hard, and all-punked as some of the other stuff they have made. The CD Nimrod for exampel. Some of the music in it, I would propoably define as pop-punk instead of punk-rock... But it is still awesome!! It is one of the Best CD's they have made. I would get International Superhits which has all the good hits from this CD. Still a good CD. Not their best though. Enjoy!! Review ID: 10000000003536474 Was this review helpful? Report this review Not their best CD; could possibly be their worse. I do like some songs on this CD, but it isn't that great. I wouldn't spend more than $4 on it. I have listened to it countless times and I never tire of its driving beats, melodies, and lyrics. Although different from the style of Dookie and Nimrod, Warning: holds its own. The album includes the International Superhits songs Warning:, Macy's Day Parade, and Minority which showcase some of Green Day's most creative lyrics and sounds. Despite these popular hits, the lesser known songs including the driving Blood, Sex, and Booze, the Elanore Rigby style song Misery, and even the classic Green Day rock of Deadbeat Holiday make Warning Green Day's best album regardless of its less than warm reception when first released. Every song seems like you've heard it before and the album, like any good thing, ends too quickly. Although less than hard rock, this album shows the true creative ingenuity that makes Green Day's music so easy to listen to and so addicting. Review ID: 10000000000821268 Was this review helpful?
