Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (PC Games, 2004)

This is one of the first games since StarCraft that i have played. I was introduced to in when i had a computer networking class where we goofed off and played warhammer to "test the network connect and stress + strain of the network". Anyway i got hooked on this game and i developed a good defense against my classmates.

Though Dawn of War's strategy model is simplistic in comparison to much of its competition, it manages to be, in my opinion, far more engaging thanks to the inspirational genius of the Warhammer 40,000 setting. It is not a 1:1 replica of the tabletop gameplay by any means, yet the setting itself remains more intact than anyone could have expected, breathing digital life into Warhammer 40,000 that has never existed before.

This did not win Game of the Year in 2004 from many magazines and websites for nothing, and with one already-released expansion and another on the way, it is looking longevous.

a great game (duh) and I love to play it. It is fun for a long time and the multipalyer is amazing. I just don't like the limited number of races, but im getting the sequels to the game anyway

This is a great game. If you like strategy then this is it, its one of the best ive ever played. Played warcraft, starcraft, or any other startegy games then you will like it. The graphics are good and gameplay is addicitive.

it was very entertaning. The eldar and the space marines are always fun to play. most maps are ballanced, unless your playing with the hardder A.I. Usually the hardest AI always wins in 20 to 30 minutes.

Right item,right price! Lightning fast delivery. The next best thing to playing tabletop. You can play 40k without having set up or clean up, win win!

this is worth the money and time. very fun game. mind you patch before starting the game. will delete saved game

I've been playing 40k since the tabletop game came out, and this PC game does it a lot of justice. Although this is the first version of the game, it still gives you a complete feel for what Warhammer 40k is all about.

The only thing I didn't like was that although the units are all squad based, you can't really position them like you would want and are able to in the tabletop version of the game.

All in all though, the game is incredible. The opening scene alone is something that could easily be a movie on its own.

I had no problems installing the game, it didn't like my video card at first but using the wizard helped fix that and in no time I was playing it and blasting the enemies of the Imperium to bits.

For a game that's been out for about 5 years now, it's right on par with StarCraft and many of the other games of this class. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to find a cheap game that will keep you occupied for hours on end.

I like the gameplay in Dawn of War. Unlike starcraft, you don't send massive amount of forces to their doom. you focus on squads of around ten men. You can control multiple squads at one time which is cool. The game stays pretty true to warhammer 40k combat and they do a nice job on replicating the units. in multiplayer, you can edit your army to be any color you want and change the symbols on their sholders. If you are considering buying this game, i would say go for it. it came out in 2004 so its pretty cheap and if you like it, the sequal, Dawn of War II, is coming out soon.

I LIKE THAT THIS GAME IS MORE CHALLENGING THAN STARCRAFT. I PURCHASED IT BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING ELSE TO PLAY SINCE I HAVE BEATEN STARCRAFT

Great game I played at a friends house got it so we can play online but it doesn't seem to work. Its a great game anyways would tell anyone to get it.

best game ever! why cant they make all games dis good ! very addicting watch out. i could play this 24 hours a day 7 days a week. i actually kno a guy who played it 4 days nonstop! he didnt stop for food water or on bathroom breaks nothing nada its that good!

Warhammer 40K is an excellent fast paced RTS. It doesn't have a complex economy system (which I liked) nor 1,000 other laborous things which adds to it's elegant simplicity. It's action from the start.

this game is amazing i buyed it about 5 days ago and it still the best game eva if u can play this game on the net do it .it will giv u hours and hours of fun 100% out of 100%

Fantastic graphics and game plot design ... can be very tough toward the end, even to a pro ... fight like a mad man and be glued to your Monitor for weeks ... beware, those who are adicted to video games .. do not buy this one .... your boss and your significant other may disown you.
