In some ways a step back from DOW1
Review created: 06/11/09

Besides obvious graphical improvements, this game doesn't bring much to the tabletop compared to DOW1 - fewer races (compared with the original's expansions), fewer units, and no resource management (though the latter may be to some players' tastes). Tech trees are a little boring, wargear starts out neat but loses its luster, and the requirement to install with Steam is an inconvenience as usual. Will suit some players, but probably not those who played Dawn of War through Soulstorm. The single-player campaign is relatively lame (the same missions over and over) and not worth solely getting the game for.

Nice and short:

Fantastic gameplay, really hooking, although some of the strategy is watered down with the removal of base building.

Well worth the moeny spent and many hours of gameplay to get out of this game!
7/10

One of the few good RTS out lately
Review created: 10/17/09

With StarCraft II on the horizon, this epic series will last until then. It's lush graphics and chaos-centered battles ensure some great experiences. It's gameplay is not the best, but it's different. It's not trying to mimic other titles. Plus it's one of the few PC games for Windows Live which lets you connect to your Microsoft Xbox account.

  Unlimited Multiplayer Strategy
Review created: 09/04/09(updated 09/17/09)
by:

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II is one of the most profitable game that I have ever bought. While you are trying to stop three races with Space Marines during various single missions upto level 20, you also find different items which are useful for upgrading your four heroes.

But the most brilliant part is the ranked multiplayer matches. You can choose four races ( Space Marines, Orcs, Eldar, Tyranids) to play lots of maps with your friends or against other players thanks to matchmaking system according to your rank.

In the 15 day after I have bought the game, I played multiplayer 26 hours. Definitely a MUST BUY and a money worth product.

  Dawn of War II
Review created: 09/01/09

Just as described, but for you Dawn of War First Edition, it's a whole deferent ball game. It's all one on one combat, hard to the core. However the new graphics and gaming concepts are out of this world, literally. I do miss the old concepetd thogh, but still well worth it.

Dawn of War 2 and how an RTS should be
Review created: 08/07/09

I've played a lot of RTS titles on PC. Most as we know are driven by building structures and gathering resources. For some I'm sure that's your ideal RTS. Personally I always enjoyed Diablo type RTS/RPG games. Where you focus on your character or your party and you gain in strength and utility as you level. Well DoW2 works along those lines. We leave the structure building and put a twist on resource gathering. I'll begin this with the multiplayer aspect.

Firstly the only structure is your main production building. You could also look at it as a teleporter relay that sends troops to you as you que them. You are not required to build additional structures whatsoever. However, if your main building happens to be destroyed in game you may not rebuild it.

Resources, oh how I sometimes despise thee. Resources always felt like a nuisance for me. I prefer a very instructional control over combat mechanics. I want to be in the fight and stay in the fight with very little need to focus elsewhere. DoW2 does this for me. Resources are obtained by merely taking various nodes in game by clicking it with a unit and staying there for the duration till it's captured. Usually a minute to take. Once taken it is yours and increases resource income. This is also a means of strategy as resource harrassing as in other games can become a strategy. However due to this easy means of resource gathering you are focused almost entirely on combat. May I also add that combat is almost completely nonstop from start to finish.

Lastly your units. You choose a race then one of three commanders/heroes associated with that race. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses and you'll want to choose one based on your style of play. Once you start the game you will begin in Tier 1. It's the first of three tiers where only certain units are available for your purchasing. More become unlocked as you advance to each tier. Commanders and units gain xp in multiplayer as they sucessfully kill enemies. Commanders may reach a max of level 10 and units a max level of 4. Obviously trying to reach those levels may not always be easy and managing your units to keep them alive while making wise kills and sacrifices is imperative. A level 4 squad vs a level 1 squad obviously has an advantage, but one that isnt unbeatable by any means. Strategy and unit composition and make a level four squad just as easily beatable as the level 1.

Singleplayer has been fun. Your units gain xp and of course level up as you progress. THe campaign is non linear so you will be able to choose which mission you'd like to partake on. If a side mission pops up with a good reward, you may feel inclined to take it before you continue the storyline. As you move through missions and fight your way to the end you'll experience item drops. Or loot as many of us call it. These items or loot can be distributed to your squad at the squad selection screen between missions. Weapons, armor, secondary items, enhancement items etc are all readily available. So this gives it a Diablo type feel as your characters level up, become stronger and loot weapons, items and gear.

Overall I enjoy the game. I find myself playing the multiplayer often. It's been a great alternative to the typical RTS, "build your city then attack," game. I can only hope more games with this take on gameplay are released. Dawn of War 2 is definitely on the right track of creating something new but very fun. It is action packed.

Get one for FREE!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally
takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own
personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link http:
http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=5452229

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer
up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is
Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

If you want hints/tips about the whole process, I'd be happy to fill you

  A new dawn rises...
Review created: 06/21/09
by:

I was a huge fan of the first dawn of war, so I was excited to give the sequel a try. It is a very different game, moving from a focus on huge armies to a focus on small unit tactics. The campaign is excellent and provides a great story to experience. The multiplayer is deep and should provide a lot of replayability.

Great game although I feel like it's in an unfinished state, the good news is that it's being actively supported by the developer. Another annoyance is the presence of double DRM (Digital Rights Management) in the forms of Steam and Windows Live....It's been an issue only once but if one or the other service goes down, you can't play the game, the upside is that it's not likely to be pirated easily.

The game offers a different strategic squad game mixed in with an RPG element. The graphics are presented nicely and add a great immersional feel to the game. Overall, the game is enjoyable and the multiplayer mode is a blast as well.
