  Peronal Review of War
Review created: 12/06/06

This book is a wonderful and personal look at war and the families involved. The letters details parts of life that would otherwise be ignored. The book does a wonderful job at follow up. Whatever is mentioned in the letters in followed up in a post-script. In other words, the reader will find out if the soldier made it home, or if the lovers married.

Another great part of this book is that it allows the reader to skip around. The reader does not have to read it cover to cover, just choose the war era that the reader wants.

War Letters the book that pulls at your heart
Review created: 10/02/06

I am a civil war reenactors. My great-great-great-grandfathers fought in the civil war, my father in world war 2 and both my brother and brother in law fought in Vietnam. Have read the letters my father wrote to my mom and they touch the heart. to be able to read letters from each of the wars and from different fronts makes the horrors of war and the hope of returning so real. I recommend this book as a must read for those who want insight to what the war must have been like for those who gave us the freedoms we take so often for granted
