Walt Disney Treasures: Tomorrowland (DVD, 2003, Collectible Tin Case)

Walt Disney was a visionary. He wanted the US to go into space. This rare video highlights his efforts to promote space exploration. It also includes footage of Disneyland's Tomorrowland and EPCOT center. The dvd comes in a limited edition numbered tin which is valuable and sought after by investors and collectors of Disneyana.

This is a collection of classic Disneyland weekly shows. Even today they are still entertaining, educational, and inspiring. Walt's vision of EPCOT is revolutionary in the way that he incorporated the monorail and WEDways to reduce traffic and emissions. The design for the city and surrounding housing fosters a closer sense of community. This is still an excellent model for how cities could be built for the future.

The DVD was interesting but not really what I expected. It was in Disney tradition that mixes reality, whimsy and imagination. I enjoyed watching it.
Would recommend any Disney Treeasure.

This two disk set is an excellent historical documentary about Tomorrowland and the bold, innovative and surprising vision Walt Disney had for the development of Epcot. Also included are several scientific cartoon shorts that teach the physics of space and space travel. These, at times boring, shorts aired on prime time television in America in the early 1960's or late 1950's.

I am dissapointed that more footage of Tomorrowland and the park was not included. The park footage seen on the two disk set is just enough to whet your appetite and leave you frustrated.

This is a great two set DVD for people young and old who would like to get the feeling of what the fifty's mentality was like on manned space flight, with great footage of Wernher Von Braun showing you step buy step of how man would accomplish this insurmountable feat his ideas of space flight and how accurately predicted the way that we accomplished it with Disney's help in explaining it to the general public and Walt's last public appearance on selling Epcot Center.
