PLOT: SCARECROW is a smuggler who sells his booty and gives the proceeds~ to the local poor to pay their taxes and buy food~ the BEST part is the SCARECROW is really the local vicar Dr. Syn~SET DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD~

CLASSIC DISNEY GEM: The poor of Dymchurch are starving and cannot pay their taxes and a Masked SCARECROW figure and his hooded helpers~ are now smuggling silk and brandy to sell and the profits are divided among the poor of Dimchurch~ we find the brain behind the mask is the local Vicar (Patrick McGoohan) and we enjoy exellent horse chases~ clever escapes into an empty barn (they hide in a secret room in the bottom of the barn) THIS WAS A CLASSIC and is finally now being released on dvd~ solid classic disney adventure~ filmed in 3 parts each has a adventure all tied in to one plot~ back when Disney was one hour each Sunday Night thus the three parts~
PART ONE has the locals dealing with the Navy Press Gang kidnapping the men into the Royal Navy~ in the hope someone will talk~ PART TWO dealing with a Traitor in his group~ (excellent way he did this one) and PART THREE has the Scarecrow and his gang breaking INTO a prison to help prisoners escape~ I watched this as a child and the hoods scared me but what a great tale~

NEW DVD HAS excellent digital viewing and sound~ 2 dvd set in the new set~! Disc one has WALT introducing each episode~ OH the memories~ and Disc 2 has the movie version (3parts edited) down for TV viewing which aired in the USA and UK~ and disc 2 EXTRA has some interviews~GREAT~ Disney did it right with this one~ grab it while you can~!



I GIVE IT A SOLID 8 OUT OF 10 FOR CLASSIC DISNEY THRILLS AND ADVENTURE. Robin Hood with a scarecrow mask~and the new UPDATED DVD Disney Classics EDITION I give a 20 out of 10 for wonderful set and excellent DIGITAL UPGRADE~

Best one that Disney did! Great action-adventure with a great cast of actors. A great example of doing the right thing, no matter what the odds. Reminds you of Zorro, Robin Hood, and other great do the right thing heroes.

This is one of my favorite Disneys. It is very difficult to find it in the stores. They were always sold out. I looked at Ebay and there it was!
I liked the bonus material and the 3 part shows that were shown on the weekly show.These shows had scences that were editted out for the feature film. Then this dvd showed the feature film shown in theaters.

Fantastic movie with Disney at it's best. Remembered it from original showing on 'Walt Disney’s wonderful world of color' and when I found out that it was now on (official) DVD I knew I had to have it. Reminds me of how it felt to be eight years old again and the world I once knew.

A great memory from our child hood. My wife and I remember watching "The Scarecrow" as children and when we found a vhs copy at a yard sale we just could not resist it. What fun! Our neices and nephews have been glued to the TV and when they come over they want to watch it again and again. The VHS got used so much it started skipping. We are so glad that we found it on EBAY! Great FAMILY entertainment. A great example of the best of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color!

I'd really love to write a review on this dvd, but I can't, since I never received it. I bought it from Dvdmagnet through ebay on December 2, and, as of January 8, I still don't have it and now don't expect to have it. Dvdmagnet says they mailed it on December 3, and they have offered a refund. Unfortunately, when this dvd can be found for sale now, it is being offered for nearly double the original cost, and Disney apparently is no longer making them (which has to be one of the smallest and shortest production runs on record.)

I'd love to have the dvd (at a reasonable cost), and I'd love to review it, but.....

This is true DISNEY at it's best. I have not seen this series since I was 7 years old. Perfect for watching with the family and the acting is top notch!
The scarecrow theme with it's cackling is just as haunting now as it was when I was a child. I still remembered most of the words all these years later.
I've waited years for this DVD to be released and at last it has been and it was worth the wait.
If you can get your hands on it do so. It is out only as a limited edition.
Many places are already sold out even though it was only released Nov. 11th and it is now only Dec. 11th (when I made my purchase).
FANTASTIC FAMILY VIEWING!

I bought this cause 1. Disney is suppose to never release this angain and 2. Just a great movie. But if it turns out not to be a great investment then hay i will still enjoy it.

I saw this movie on the Wonderful World of Disney when I was a kid back in the 1960's. It was an awesome movie that I loved. Seeing it again on DVD brought back wonderful memories. This movie has a great story, great acting, and a theme song I am sure you'll find yourself singing over and over again.
This would be a excellent addition to any video collection.
It came out in limited release, an annoying habit of Disney video, and may be hard to locate. I have seen it sell for over $100.00 on ebay auctions.
Disney could sell a lot more of these if they wanted. (You listening Disney?)
Keep your eyes open for a good price and get a great movie. I am not selling my copy anytime soon.

Another Disney Great, from the 1960's, all about a hero on the south coast of England, a modern day robin Hood, stealing from the rich to give to the poor, and if you love the actor who played author dailey, "George Cole" he plays a major role, in this film, buy it if you get the chance.

two disc set, both original tv show [three part series] version and motion picture version included. contains background and production details. may seem expensive until you view the wonderfully restored footage and soundtrack. in retrospect, well worth the money. if you can find a used version from a seller you trust, you can acquire it for around $50 USD, i did!

We saw this when origionally aired in the 1960s, Sunday nights on the Wonderful World of Disney. We loved the series and ever since then we have been waiting for it to be released by Disney. It is fun for the whole family and it shows some of what life was like in that age. We compare to the Davy Crockett series. A must see and must have.

This is excellent hard to find disney DVD if you are a collector this is a must have to add to your Disney Treasures Set. Disney Treasures Sets are getting harder and harder to find as they dont produce as many copies as they use to with 1st Waves of movies. it was a movie i loved as a child ...and always wanted to have a coppy for many years was so pleased to see disney come out with it finally...took 35 yrs but well worth the wait......such a great character the scarecrow...loved the face and voice...loved purchasing it

A great Disney classic. I can remember as a 12 year old watching this on Sunday nigh on The Wonderful World of Disney. Sad to think that they don't make movies like this anymore. I have many different VHS and DVD movies, and just wanted to add this one to my collection. And you just can't get away from singing that haunting theme song. Great story about a poor church vicar by day, and a champion of the people by night. Wonderful.

I purchased this for a valentine gift. Although it was expensive, I needed it quick and aftering reviweing the great feedback score from the seller, I bought it and received it in excellent condition and before valentines day. He loved the gift. He always talked about this series he watched as a boy. This was the perfect gift!

I am 57 and could not waite for it to come on TV. Walt Dysney just seemed to get everything he did right. The story of our revolution shoul be known by everyone to know why our constitution was made.

If you have never seen this three part show, you are missing out. Quality you can expect from Disney, this is a very captivating show for all ages. Highly recommended!

Classic Stuff, pity this era of televison and cinema has disappeared!!!

My mom and da have been looking for this movie for a very long time. And I found it on ebay and decided to get it for them. The seller was very good and sent it promptly. I receive it in great condition and we enjoyed the movie. I would like to thank the seller and ebay.
