These darling stories are so funny that my husband and I can watch them over and over again as well as our Parents and friends and family ! They are also intertaining to our 2,3 and 4 year old... They have seen it 100 times.

The storys are about Wallace a crazy "brainless" inventor and his smart dog "grommit" There are 3 stories that are equally enjoyable !

The dog rescues him time and time again and he never knows:)

We have loved these since they came out years ago and we are looking forward to the release of the major movie coming out in theaters Oct. 2005

This is money well spent and you will not be disapointed !!

This is where the "serta sheep" came from as well as Chicken Run ~

W&G rule! This version, on the other hand...

I am a huge fan of Wallace and Gromit. Have been since I first saw them several years ago. And I'm happy that Were-Rabbit opened them to a wider audience.

So how can I give this a rating of 1/5?

Because this DVD is horrible.

Poor sound quality, horribly wrong closed captioning, and mediocre extras are bad enough.

But the straw that breaks the camel's back is the fact that Warner has EDITED some of the scenes. If you're a diehard fan, like I am, you'll be screaming at the TV within minutes.

Don't waste your time with this one. Buy the The Incredible Adventures version from Fox instead. And get Curse of the Were-Rabbit while you're at it. But don't waste your time or money with this one.

  A Grand Day In

Before the Were-Rabbit were three Academy Award winning shorts revolving around the adventures of Wallace & Gromit, the cheese-loving inventor and his faithful dog.

The DVD includes half-hour shorts "A Grand Day Out," "The Wrong Trousers," and "A Close Shave." Special features include a behind the scenes look at the clay-mation factory and ten "Cracking Contraptions" snipets.

"A Grand Day Out" is an early Wallace & Gromit animated film that introduces the pair on a holiday adventure. Wallace is searching for the perfect vacation spot and decides there is only one place that'll do: the moon. Why the moon? Because it's made of cheese, of course. And Wallace cannot resist cheese. They build a homey rocket in their basement and take off to mine the moon for new cheese. Their adventure takes some surprising turns that end in a way only a Wallace & Gromit story could.

"The Wrong Trousers" is my favorite. The plot involves a birthday present for Gromit, financial problems for Wallace, and a sinister penguin. This is one of the best penguins ever outside of an Antarctica documentary. That the penguin can evoke menace with a slight turn of the head and a glint in the eye is both a marvel of animation and film making. The action evolves into a crime caper that is capped with a hilarious finale on the kitchen floor.

"A Close Shave" is another crime story that twists around some sheep rustling, a knitting machine that creates a sweater from the sheep up, an evil dog and a shortage of yarn. The same creators that put together "Chicken Run" again display their love for convoluted contraptions here. Wallace also meets a love interest and is forced to choose between her and cheese; and what's not to love about that.

The Wallace & Gromit world is sweet and totally lovable. Everytime I watch these films I am charmed, giggling and amazed at the creative and accomplished film making achieved with some lumps of clay. The DVD is a lovely activity for a grand day in. And don't forget to put out the Wensleydale cheese.

It always amazes me how claymation can capture such emotion & different facial expressions in Gromit--I don't often laugh out loud @ movies, but I did when I watched these....Clever stories & subtle British wit; I highly recommend this DVD!!!

  Adventure for little adventurers!

Firstly we bought DVD The Were Rabbit for our three little boys and even our 2,5 year old one loved it very much! That's why we searched for more stories about Wallace and Gromit. And this was just it! The miniature work of the creators is just amazing! Take a bow! Although these stories are much older than Were Rabbit, each part is very interesting and entertaining! Very nice reward for all good boys :o)!

These short movies endear themselves to viewers.

As a father, I have tried to widen my childrens' cinematic interests. My daugther enjoyed watching this charming duo, and now my son loves to also. And I was grateful for the "we" time watching these movies with them. They are a refreshing change from the constant dose of americana one can see on a daily basis. One can appreciate the patient skill in the making of Wallace and Gromit, but it's the stories that are enchanting and memorable. If you are a product of the american video culture, Wallace and Gromit will surely disappoint you. But if you have a desire for something offbeat, with substance, and a touch of "English Sensibility", then you probably will enjoy the movies. All three were nominated for academy awards and two won. They're great to watch with your loved ones, all of them.

Good addition to a Wallace & Gromit Collection
Review created: 07/04/07

Wanted to add to my Wallace & Gromit collection. The first short, 'A Grand Day Out' was the first one made, and its plot didn't tie together as well as the other two shorts. However, it was nice to have the 'history' of Nick Park's first film of Wallace & Gromit. wThe other two shorts were very entertaining and witty with great plot lines.

Never received the item, several others didn't receive their auction items from the same seller...EBAY banned the seller beware the low or nonexistent feedback buyers...if the seller hasn't made many sales that had positive feedback make sure the seller is real.

Purchased the item outside of EBAY from a local retailer...GREAT DVD!!!!!

I enjoy a good claymation, this set has one of the best. "The Wrong Trousers" in this set is absolutely hilarious. It has a bunch of hidden jokes in the details."A Close Shave" & "A Grand Day Out" are not to be missed. I have seen all of these several times, and they never fail to provoke a hearty laugh. Excellent family fun. This was purchased as a gift to a relative.

Wallace and Gromit...the most expressive dog ever!!
Review created: 08/03/06

AFter a recent trip to Scotland I found myself on the plane home and unable to sleep. I find myself watching Wallace and Gromit's "Close Shave" on the miniature screen in the headrest in front of me. I had a hard time not lauighing out loud and waking my fellow passengers. Wallace and Gromit is great and I love the fact that there aren't any innuendos that my son may pick up on as he gets older. It is just silly good fun. "Close Shave" reminded me of Scotland...with all the sheep, and I loved it. SO I bought this DVD. It was well worth it. "The Wrong Trousers" is fantastic, and I was laughing while watching it. What a great DVD!!!
