Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (DVD, 2008, Theatrical Version; Single-Disc Version)

There is no doubt that Walk Hard is a great parody of the musician biopic as we know it today. The film is filled with rips and references to movies such as Walk the Line and Ray. Walk Hard does all of this very well, but also has its own brand of humor and jokes that stand on their own. From the time that the opening scene rolled, I knew that I was in for a treat.

Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan show their comedic genius throughout the movie, whether it be through clever dialog between characters or the genuinely funny original songs. The music performed by Dewey Cox does a great job of parodying various styles, from Dylan to Brian Wilson.

John C. Reilly is fantastic in his role as Dewey Cox and establishes himself as a solid leading man. I was also thoroughly impressed that he actually sang and played all of the music in the movie and did it well. Jenna Fischer's performance in Walk Hard may be just what her career needs right now. It's nice to finally see her breaking the mold that she has set for herself as Pam in The Office.

Walk Hard also featured a wide range of current and former SNL stars, such as Kristin Wiig and Chris Parnell. In addition, some of the regulars from past Apatow films are also featured, but I don't want to ruin any surprises here.

All in all, Walk Hard is a really solid comedy and a must see for any Apatow fans. If you are going to see Walk Hard, do yourself a favor and check out Walk the Line and Ray before going. It will make for a much more rewarding experience.

EMPTY DVD CASE. MY NEPHEW OPENED HIS GIFT IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE FAMILY, SO EVERYONE SAW THE OPENED CASE AND EMPTY INSIDE. WHEN I RECIEVED THE CASE IT HAD THREE PIECES OF SCOTCH TAPE ON ONE EDGE. THERE WAS A POST-IT NOTE THAT SAID IT WAS TORN WHEN PULLED OFF THE SHELF, AND I ACTUALLY BELIEVED THAT STORY. I HAVE BEEN BUYING FROM E-BAY FOR MANY, MANY YEARS AND NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SELLER. HOW MANY REVIEWS HAVE BUYERS LEFT AND OPENED THE PACKAGE AFTER LEAVING A GOOD REVIEW TO FIND IT THEY DIDN'T GET WHAT THEY PAID FOR. SO MY "EXCELLENT REVIEW' REMAINS POSTED THERE AS IF EVERYTHING WAS OKAY, AND IT'S VERY HARD TO RETRACT THAT REVIEW. BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. EBAY SHOULD NOT ALLOW TROYACURTIS5960 TO OPERATE. GAVE CHRISTMAS DAY A REAL DOWNER. THE ONLY REMEDY WOULD BE TO SEND ME THE DVD I ORDERED IN EARLY DECEMBER AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE OR CREDIT MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT.

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Everyone that sees it is hooked in the first 5 minutes and I have yet to have anyone get up and leave before it was finished.

Honestly when I saw previews for this on TV and theaters I thought it looked stupid but honestly I think it is an amazing parody of Walk The Line and you definately need to give it a chance! Just very clever and funny I can't really think of how else to explain the movie, go rent it and find out!!

Awesome soundtrack. Precise comedic timing. Quality entertainment. Honestly, this was one of the most hilarious comedies of not only 2008, but the entire history of mankind. John C. Reilly deserved a Best Actor statue...but got ripped off, big-time. Highly recommended.

This movie is hilarious! Any fan of John C. Riley will love it. Highly recommended for a good laugh, but there is some nudity; not recommended for smaller children
