One of the best of the Classic King Crimson albums.

This album proved an interesting problem as most of the band had decided to leave to group either during the tour and shortly after returning to England. However, most of the original group does play for the majority of the album.
The disc opens with the very short Peace-A Beginning before launching headfirst into Pictures Of A City which sways with it's combination of jazz and rock and roll. Cadence And Cascade is as mellow as Pictures was rocking. This is also the the only track to feature mostly was was to be the next line up. Mel Collins and Gordon Haskell replace Ian MacDonald and Greg Lake. In The Wake Of Poseidon is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The second part of the disc opens with the pretty instrumental Peace-A Theme that runs into the album version of Cat Food. Cat Food is another stunner. The Devil's Triangle is a reworking of the classical piece Mars: The Bringer Of War which had been in the band's live set lists but Fripp couldn't get the rights so it's renamed here. The album comes full circle with Peace-An End. The version contains the single version of Cat Food and it's b side not released on the album Goon. FYI: two different people auditioned for this album and were turned down- Bryan Ferry who couldn't sing in the key that the songs were recorded in and an artist soon to be known as Elton John.
