Vulneralbe Tricky CD
Review created: 02/05/07

I liked one sound that I had actually heard on an Ebay auction. I asked the seller who the artist was and it was Tricky. It is sensual music although the songs sound kind of similar.

Vulnerable: A Veritable Car Crash of an Album
Review created: 07/10/03

Pros:
Some good tracks that harken back to the good ol' days

Cons:
It really sounds like Tricky's trying to recapture his past glory--not a good thing.

Really? You mean to tell me that more than two weeks after its release, nobody has anything to say about Vulnerable, Tricky's new album? Call it mere happenstance or call it mass indifference--either way, the utter lack of hype and promotion surrounding this album is yet another sign of Tricky's fall from music's elite. You see, Tricky's solo career started with the proverbial BANG with Maxinquaye, to this day the seminal trip-hop album for throngs of jaded youths. Sudden near-stardom did not wear well on Tricky, as follow-ups Pre-Millenium Tension, Angels With Dirty Faces and Juxtapose...

 Don't call it a comeback.

Pros:
Features some of his best work in years

Cons:
Mr. Thaws needs to leave the nu-metal guitars alone.

As a fan who s been following Tricky s career ever since he left Massive Attack and caused critics across the globe to simultaneously cream their pants with the release of Maxinquaye, I d be lying if I said the man s output hasn t been a tad on the frustrating side as of late. I can t quite put my finger on what it was exactly, but something went horribly wrong after Pre-Millennium Tension, and the Bristol-native has never fully recovered since. I don t know if it s due to the backlash he received from the British press after kicking the crap out of that music journalist, or if he simply made.
