I BOUGHT A REFURBISHED Vizio VS42LF 42 in. HDTV LCD TV

I bought a 42" REFURBISHED, VIZIO TV on eBay, after searching for 3 days online for a FULL HD TV. I build computers and repair electronics for a living. And knew what specs I wanted, for what price. After about 3 years of waiting for HD TV prices to drop ( which they did by about 20-25% at most retail stores.) I wasn't still happy with retail prices plus sales tax they just weren't that great. I look on eBay for a new or refurbished one and found a VIZIO 42" for $550.00+ $50.00 S&H. Great! all the specs I wanted, shipping price was GREAT! and wait time was about 10-15 days. I wait, and wait, checking my wheres waldo TV status. UPS delivers my TV to the wrong address (of course) in a city about 50 miles from where I asked them to ship it. But I figure. " Hey! I waited 3 years, and 15 days, I only have to drive 50 miles to get it!" I drove to my mothers house. The box had a few gashes in the sides of it and looked in fair shape. The corner was SMASHED like someone dropped it. I drag the box in, open it, remove all the packaging. YAYY! no damage! I was razzed, I hooked it all up to mothers cheap DVD player in her living room to make sure it powered on and everything worked, it did! I watch a little bit of an analog DVD on it. For the source the picture was GREAT!, took a little adjusting here and there, but regardless for the source I was impressed with the picture. I unplugged,
re boxed and took it home.I got home, showed it off to my girlfriend,(who was NOT impressed might I say.)Hooked it all up, the TV worked fine no apparent problems at that point. 3 days later I'm watching " The day The Earth Stood Still" and there were a lot of scenes with fog and smoke in them and I notice a TINY horizontal line running across the screen from corner to corner. I didn't freak out, knowing this was probably a loose cable or maybe interference (rare) from another device near it or something. So I fiddle, reconnect, power off/on, try different sources, MOVE the TV to the other side of the room NOTHING WORKS! I couldn't fix it.
I called up VIZIO warranty, guys on their 1-800-guy.
The tech support is VERY professional spoke PERFECT English (very rare, most tech support guys read steps off of a monitor troubleshooting and have NO IDEA what they are really doing honestly.) he walks me through the basics, "have you tried different inputs, different power cables etc." none of the fixes worked, the TV was still under 90 day warranty. The tech guy said " we'll replace the TV at NO COST to you and will contact you. LESS THEN 3 DAYS LATER he contacted me like he said. WONDERFUL! The TV guys come out to my house we did the TV switch. I hook up the new TV again it looked FINE! I waved them off and started watching it. NO PROBLEMS! ARGH! 3 days later HORIZONTAL LINE RUNNING THROUGH SCREEN! So here's the short and ugly of VIZIO's refurbished lines of TV's
1. They'll replace the TV up to 2 times in the 90 day warranty of the TV unless you buy extended
2. VIZIO is "new" to the U.S> and they are a Chinese\Taiwan based company
BUY AMERICAN!! LG,RCA,SONY,PHILLIPS
3. If you get stuck with a bad line of product TV's that should be recalled but aren't. >BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY<, odds are that the TV will detonate before the warranty expires, and you'll get another 500+ dollar TV with a line in it ROFL!!! I paid $70.00, U.S. for a 2 year warranty.
VIZIO is a good company, but the PHYSICAL COMPONENTS OF MY TV ARE CHEAPLY MADE, like a 1$ squirt gun from walmart. =)
