Great lens!
There are several versions of the Vivitar 28mm, this is the Close Focus model made for Vivitar by Komine. Komine is also the maker of several Series 1 lenses with the Vivitar name. Though not marked as a Series 1, this lens may have been a precursor to the line. Build quality is excellent, optice are sharp, precise, and exhibit few artifacts. Color reproduction is true, with no detectable 'blow out' of the red or yellow spectrum. Flare & chromatic abberation are well controlled as they are in most all of the old manual focus Pentax Multi-Coated lenses.
The 28mm focal length makes this lens nearly ideal for use indoors for social events or other confined situations where separation from your subject is difficult, or where a wider field of view is desired. I have not put the close focus capability to use as yet, but I'm sure it will be fantastic based on the resolution capabilities of this bit of glass.

The Price Was RightThis item is as good as Vivitar made them. The glass appears to have sharp results and very functional but certainly not as well built as a Pentax brand lens. But then again, I paid $13.00 used for this item and a Pentax lens of near same specification runs $200 or more used and $500 new. I intend to do some panoramic landscape work with this glass. I'll update my review after 6 months or so and we'll see then if I believe the lens is still sharp and functional.
