Vitamix 5200 Variable-Speed Blender

I bought this pricey/fancy blender after my magic bullet literally died. I have to tell you this was a major upgrade and I never regret it for one second.
2 things to consider:
1. the blender is bigger than I thought, even though I really looked at the measures before i bought it. I live in NYC and if you do too, you know the closet sized kitchens we have. So it is bulky.
2. I like raw nut butters and it doesn't really make other nut butters but mostly peanut it couldn't deal with almonds for example without added oils.
Cleaning is easy it literally cleans itself and I have to mention the Vitamix customer support (returns) is truly 5 start fast and effective. My girlfriend returned her machine after 2 weeks she said there were no questions asked, she called them 3 days later fedex picked it up and they refunded her money without any hassle.
I wouldn't say it turned my life around but it made life easier for sure.
I say go for it nothing to lose (only weight) :)

BUT much better machine than I thought it'd be!!

My wife loves to eat fruit now - never would before.

I LOVE that I can put a small amount of any sweet fruit in it with only ONE Tablespoon of Vanilla Yogurt then lots of ice,
and believe it or not, it becomes smooth as silk - like super cold soft ice cream (no crunch no hint of crunch no fruit pieces, JUST SMOOTH!)

Don't even have to peel most fruit - turns the skin seeds etc into super smooth NUTRITION and fiber. if not using fruit that is very sweet it only takes a tad of STEVIA to sweeten the whole thing.

I totally love the Vita-Mix 5200. It is easy to use, and easy to clean. I make hot soup from fresh veggies in less than 10 minutes. I make healthy drinks from fresh fruit in less than 5 minutes.
This is an excellent machine for a widower who enjoys eating healthy, but can't cook worth a hoot.
I previously purchased two Vita-Mix 5200's from Ebay, one for me and one for my daughter and son-in-law in Florida who enjoy healthy foods. They love it.
This last purchase of one Vita-Mix 5200 was a gift for another daughter in Washington state, who is a real health food nut, and she loves it.
Easy, healthy Christmas gifts, and the prices were very good.
I also enjoyed being kept well informed by the seller, regarding when the products shipped, and when my kids should receive them. The seller fully understood and appreciated my need for expediency in shipping the last one to get it to Washington in time for Christmas, and, by doggies, she done it.

What I like about this one is that the containers can even be used for my older model of Vitamix VOM103 because of the horse powers are the same. I am a little bit disappointed because the base unit is not as sturdy as that of the 1994 made one. I did use this machine a lot and was only replace it for personal reason. However, I find the dry blade container may not provide me the kind of use that I had hoped it could do in the firstplace. Both Chili and Cinamon will discolor the container. I like the improve cap design and material of the container. However, it does not sit as well on the base, i.e. a little bit shaky. The DVD is very helpful to introduce the use of the machine. The recipe book was a bit disappointed, I like the prior version which mark V for Vegetarian recipes. Had I known the horse powers is the same as my old one and the other situation, I would have bought the new commercial one with only 64 pages of recipe but much higher horse power. It is a hard pick. I am yet to try out the bread making function of the dry blade container to truly know whether it has served my purpose of making bread dough.

I love the fact that I don't have to peel or take the seeds, core out of the apples, just cut up-drop in! I do take the green leaves off the strawberries. I make all type of smoothies I add a tomato in with the fruit and a leaf or two of spinach, the kids never know that they are drinking their veggies! Makes wonderful milkshakes as well! I love the machine!

This is a very powerful blender. I can put even pine seeds mix with veggies,and when I drink it, it just feel like juice. It is also easy
to clean,too.

I bought the Vitamix after seeing it in use at a relative's home. Although pricey, it really does work as advertised. This machine feels, sounds and operates like a heavy duty professional quality machine. It makes very good fruit based ice cream/sherbet like desserts that we make with almost no fat and no sugar that are great ice cream substitutes, and it makes them in just a matter of a couple of minutes. For someone like me who is almost addicted to ice cream, the Vitamix is a weight control necessity. Clean up is extraordinarily easy, too. If you have doubts about this machine (and who does not doubt heavily advertised, "demonstrated" sales pitches), put your doubts to rest, cough up the price of the machine, and be prepared to enjoy.

Forget what you know about home blender performance. Buy a Vitamix 5200 and you'll finally achieve professional results. Love the way "juice bar" smoothies end up being super smooth? That's what you'll get at home! Thinking about going on a diet or changing your eating habits for the better? This blender's performance will inspire you to stay on track. I love my 5200 and I know you will too!

That's right... I haven't bought the 5200 vitamix yet...
but I know the older ones were great... absolutely fantastic..
and the ones that grind raw wheat into flour and then make
it into bread... all in the vitamix... were the best breads
in the world. Stores would get $8.99 a loaf... for such
a bread.

I was at costco and listened and observed the salesmans demonstration, also sampled the product, simply amazing. With one or two drinks a day you can get your daily allowance of fruits and veges simply by drinking them and they are delicious. The price is in the mid $300 during the show. If you call costco you can find out where the next show is and they usually send them, I think. I was blown away by this machine, it is not a juicer really, most juicers remove the fiber, this does not so you get all the benefits of the fruit or vege. I did not purchase one because I will be getting it for Christmas, Jesus's birthday. I can't wait because I definitely do not eat nearly enough fruits and veges and this machine makes it so easy and quick to accomplish the task which is almost impossible unless you are a vegetarian. I would think this machine would change your eating habits and make you extremely healthy if you used it just a few times a week, imagine every day. No need for laxatives, save money on vitamins, I suppose it would pay for itself if you stop buying vitamins. It also made a hot soup out of vegetables in 10 minutes, but they added a cube of condensed vege powder and it has msg, not a good idea for people with allergies, but there are vege cubes without msg I would think. I have heard they take returns no questions asked, so if you have the money and a desire to get healthy, go for it without a doubt. That is my humble opinion, but remember I only saw one demonstration, but what I saw and drank had a big impact on me and makes sense.
