It was a good movie did not go by the book way out from the book as a matter of fact. But it still got the point across.

This was an excellent movie from Frank Peretti. It had pretty good special effects and the story line was good and it also was suspenseful as well. In my opinion anything that Frank Peretti does is really good. He is a excellent thriller writer . Two thumbs up

I love this movie. I decided to buy it shortly after reading the book. It has all the thrill and suspense of any horror movie, but without all the unnecessary blood and gore and with positive lessons in it.

  Excellent Movie!

One of the things I liked about the movie, was the suspense... unless one had previously read the book... there was no indication of the events that would occur. Secondly, it was clean!!! There was no foul language or sex scenes... WOW... and STILL was an EXCELLENT movie!!! I don't think I would let a younger child (all depending on the child themselves... how thay handle this type of movie) watch it, simply because of the "fear" factor. But IF it weren't for that... it would be a movie I would recommend to ANYONE! There ARE are as of intenseness and even some of the adults who watched the movie... and in the daytime... said it was a bit scary to them. This movie has been given the genre of: Action & Adventure, Drama (mostly drama), Horror, Children & Family, with a sub-genre of: THRILLER, Christian Thriller, Occult, Supernatural, Slashers. That lets you get a clue of what the movie will be like.

What I DIDN'T like about the movie? Well... it may seem "petty", but when the demons are being "cast out" of the people, there is a hoard of bugs that come out of the mouths of the people that are being delivered. There may be some reason that SEVERAL producers... not just this one... are using this technique to show the demons coming out of the person that is being delivered, but in my own personal opinion... I don't think that is realistic. I have actually seen people who were being delivered from demonic oppression, and they DO begin to dry heave (or actually throw up), as is shown in one of the scenes of the movie, but I have NEVER seen a hoard of bugs come from their mouths during deliverence. Perhaops this is done, because Lucifer (satan, the devil) is called Beelzebub in the Bible... Lord of the Flies and it is symbolic!

Anyway... I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!

Why did I decide to buy it? Well... I LOVE Frank Peretti's works!! I was THRILLED to hear that at least ONE of his books had been turned into a movie!! I WISH they would make "This Present Darkness" or "Piercing The Darkness" (or BOTH) into a movie! PLEASE!!!!

All in all... even though one of the sub-genre's had it listed as "Christian Thriller"... I think ANYONE who likes a good suspenseful movie with a little flair similar to Stephen King, would like this (even THAT producer of "The Green Mile" had the bugs from/into the mouth... hmmmmm...???)!!!

  Great Movie...what abou the book?
Review created: 11/05/06

I have to say that I was very excited when I heard that The Visitation was going to be a movie. The book, by Frank Peretti of course, is one of my favorites, and I've read it many times.
However, as I began watching the movie, I realized one thing. The names were the same, the story had been changed drastically.
Not that it was a bad story, but I had come expecting to see the Visitation. I ended the movie liking it, but wishing it had more to do with the book.
Overall good movie. Strange film shots and edits, but interesting. It might be an aquired taste for some viewers.
Don't expect the book. You'll be disappointed.

I had previously read Frank Peretti's book sharing the same title & had a hard time putting the book down. While visiting my nephew a few months ago, he was very excited about this movie that I just had to see. It was "The Visitation", and I was very excited to see the movie version of the book. It was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I returned home, I immediately began searching for a copy of both this movie and Frank Peretti's other movie "Hangman's Curse" to purchase for my family. When they arrived, the kids and I sat down and watched both of them ... great, quality family time. The plot is a little heavy for younger children, but it is an excellent movie to share with older children and adults.

  I loved it!
Review created: 08/02/09

I never read the book, so don't have that to compare it with, but I loved the movie. I thought the acting was superb and especially intense toward the end. I would definitely recommend it. However, it could be a bit 'scary' for children to watch or even adults that scare easily. Anyway, I think it's a great movie and will probably watch it again, soon!

The Visitation - An interesting film to say the least.
Review created: 12/08/08

"The Visitation" is a good film interpretation of a very interesting book. The acting varies from mediocre to excellent depending on the scene and actors. One thing we really loved about was the acting of Justin Cantwell, the bad guy of the film. His highly dramatic style really brought the darkness of his character to the screen. By the end of the film, we not only hated him, but felt sort of bad for him too! One thing we did not like was the way the film's producer chose to indicate demon possession through some hokey black stuff appearing to come out of the possessed individual after the demon is exorcised. This may be either theatrically necessary or theologically sensible, but we found it gave a feeling of just plain hokum. All in all though, the film is good and portrays the battle between good and evil in some new and surprising ways.

This movie was an excellent portrayal of the book of the same name, I would however as usual recommend reading the book before watching this movie because as in most movies it leaves out a bit of information. I think that in reading the book first you will enjoy this movie much more. All in all it was a brilliantly done movie :)

Its scary only to the extent that your bible tells you about these things to come. Truly inspiration to look out for these signs. I got scared because it was bible come alive everything about Satan and what he will try to lure you to believe if you dont know what his tricks are. Get it, get it.

  Amazing Movie!
Review created: 04/09/08

I watched this with a friend a little while ago, and it really showed the truth about spiritual warfare and false prophets. There is a darkness in this world, but there is also light and that is Jesus Christ! this movie is well done and is not corny or cheezy but real and entertaining. definetly a great pickup. probably not to good for younger kids, because they might get kind of scared.

Good movie. Doesn't stick to the book.

I got the movie because I read the book. I was very disapointed in the movie. The story line in the movie is very little like the book, and if you don't read the book first the movie doesn't really make sense. That is the way I see it. As a movie it is very good quality and good acting, but I wish it would have stuck more to the book than it did.

The Visitation is a Christian movie that I had rented in the past. It deals with the coming miracles that Satan will perform to pull people into deception.
Although most Christian movies are not at the same level as Hollywood movies, the content is one worth understanding if you are part of the Christian faith.

My boyfriend loves the movie The Visitation. I was going to go to a store and buy it for him for sweetest day, but thankfully I looked on Ebay first. I found the movie and not only was it in good condition (brand new), it was half of what I would have paid in a store, even with shipping. When it arrived to my house 3 days after I paid, it was still in the plastic and I was very happy with my purchase and so was my boyfriend!!!
