The first next-gen installment of the Virtua Fighter franchise has a lot to live up to, and it both does and doesn’t meet all the expectations laid on this storied series. The good news is that VF 5 is as tight, polished, and balanced of a release as even the most rabid of fans could ask for. Combat is smooth and fast, and the single-player Quest mode (though admittedly very similar to that of VF 4) is the best single-player experience in the genre. If an iteration on the classic style of fighting games is all you ask, Virtua Fighter 5 will take good care of you. On the other hand, the lack of online play is a sad omission for a PlayStation 3 title, and the basic gameplay formula hasn’t changed a bit. Even so, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to any fighter fan or PS3 owner – it’s not often that you see core mechanics as well-implemented as they are here, and that itself makes for a very entertaining game.

Virtua Fighter 5 kicks everyone's ass up and down the block. Sure some fighting series like "Soul Calibur" and "Tekken" distract you with all kinds of extra modes and, uh, bowling, but VF5 rises above the pack thanks to the sheer depth of its gameplay.
Virtua Fighter 5 is downright incredible. Its a near perfect port from the Arcades and features some of the most engrossing gameplay and visuals ever to grace a home console.

This is a weak attempt at a fighting game. Do not even compare this to Soul Calibur or Tekken because this game is not on the same level. Yes, the graphics are slightly better, but that does not say much about the physics or gameplay. All it is is an arcade game on a consol. It Lacks online play or any plot. It also lacks counter attacks and the depth that Dead or ALive brought to Xbox. DOnt get me wrong I am a fan of PS3, but I just bought this game and I'm selling it. I recommend waiting for Tekken 6, that should be mind blowing.

This game is a must buy if you're desperate for a fighting game on the PS3, since it's the only well known fighting series available currently on the PS3. This game has great graphics(one of the best on PS3 and nice controls with the SIXAXIS, but does have a lot of cons into it, including no online play(bad for the only fighting game on PS3), and if you're not into fighting games and already own a 360, it's just about the same or a little worse than DOA 4, even though VF 5
has decent gameplay.

Great fighter if you put the time in to master a character, and play against others who have done this. Lack of online limits doing this without a close group of friends to spar with.
Quest mode somewhat makes up for this, as it offers escalating diffuculty match ups with com controlled fighters.
This game is pretty cheap in most stores now, so it's a great buy.

One reason this game is absolutely terrible for me -NO ONLINE-. Thats it, other than that its a descent fighting game but honestly there is no reason for me to own this game if i can't try my hand at schooling people online. Im not into sitting here and fighting the same AI opponets over and over.
If you don't have your playstation hooked up to the internet then you should look into that cause your missing some of the best gaming experiences there are, and if thats not going to happen and you have friends that will come over and play this with you then go ahead and pick this one up. For any of the rest of you out there that have been spoiled to the competition that the online community brings stay the hell away from this.

Virtua Fighter 5 is the fighting game for you!Virtua fighter 5 is one the top fighting games I've ever played. There is a wide variety of characters and stadiums where you can play at. Also this game is not a $60 game either. So you get all your money back. Lastly, i think it's good and so did Ultimate Gamer on Sci-fi because they used this game to have a challenge and all of the players loved it.

This game requires pressing different buttons at the same time for many of the moves. This means it is almost impossible to play well on a playstation pad. So you need a joystick to play. Other than that, it's a great game as usual.

All these accessories and clothes you do not naturally receive free, but you will need to win in battles with opponents, or you'll buy with money from the war.
