The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle (1997, Hardcover, Board)

I decided to purchase this book because the price was right and I saw it sold at many baby botique stores. It was better that I expected! It sets the mood for a lovely bedtime and the pictures are marvelous!Plus, the little cricket sound in the end was quite a surprise! Not such a quiet cricket after all!

This is a book I already own for my pre-school and kindergarten. The hard back copy I had didn't chirp anymore. For some reason when I got it out to read it it didn't chirp. I ordered another one on line for the class because the children really liked it.

Great story! Excellent critters! Very helpful in classrooms with students with reduced expressive and receptive vocabulary skills. Love the cricket sound at the end of the story.

Great author, great book, use in music therapy activities and in speech therapy. Also use in Kinder and first grade to teach children how to have a quiet voice. Highly recommend!!!!

This is a great book. Children love to hear the cricket chirp at the end. (Not to spoil any surprises) It also encourages them to listen. Eric Carle has many great books;I would recommend them all.

A timeless classic that can be passed down for many generations. Young children can understand due to the simplicity of the story and learn a lesson at the same time.

I bought this story for my classroom to combine an author study (Eric Carle) and a Life Cycles unit. It is a wonderful, repetitive story, appropriate for infants through 1st grade (or higher). It demonstrates the growth of an insect from egg to adult with a terrific underlying theme of trying until you achieve your goal. The story also involves movement and sound which keep children totally enthralled! A great way to keep those fidgety little ones involved. The children will want to read it again and again! Highly recommended(along w/ Eric Carles' other repetitive stories).
