Vera Wang on Weddings by Vera Wang (2001, Hardcover, Illustrated)

You name it, this book covers it (and in the most elegant way). Vera Wang is the authority on tasteful weddings and every wedding detail she preaches is pure gospel. This is not just about the dress, although she does cover every imaginable aspect of what to wear from the neckline to the best bra for your body type.

But she covers much more.

"The time of day always determines the choice of dress and the style of the wedding," Wang tells us in the opening pages.

"The hairstyle needs to be determined before a veil or hairpiece is selected," she advises on page 216. "Tall brides should avoid tall hairdos."

On children, she feels, "The neckline of a flower girl's dress should always be modest."

On China, she says, "Less formal China is always appropriate for an outdoor wedding."

I love this book because Wang isn't wishy-washy on what's best. Many books I bought gave me so many options that it just left my head spinning. If you want an elegant, classy wedding, this book tells it like it is.

In addition, I still own this book two years after my wedding because the pictures are exquisite and make it a wonderful coffee table book.

I originally had no fewer than seven books on weddings. This is the only one I've kept. It's the only one you'll need.
