Vera Textiles by Jeanette Michalets, Katherine Michalets (2006, Hardcover)

Finally collector's of Vera Neumann designs have a reference book to help with identifying, dating and pricing popular vintage Vera pieces! The largest part of this book is filled with beautiful photographs of Vera designs including scarves, handkerchiefs, bedding, table linens, dishes, clothing and aprons. There is a relatively small section of text (about 10 pages) which provides biographical information about Vera Neumann along with some general information about her design style, the history of her signature and the ladybug, and tips for finding and using Vera pieces. Much of this will be familiar to seasoned collector's, but those new to collecting Vera will find it invaluable. I was particularly impressed with the section on special & promotional scarves and with the number and range of Vera collectibles included in the book. Overall, I find it to be very well done and a good source of information about a designer who is rarely written about in detail, despite her enormous popularity among collectors.
