I have the attention span of a Monarch butterfly, so 22-23 minute animated episodes are perfect for me.
This double disc set is a great buy. It contains 13 episodes and special features that include: Show pilot, Christmas episode, Deleted scenes, Behind the movie(?) scenes and Cast & Creators commentary.
The show is centered around inept super heroes and mad scientists (which are equally inept). Main characters, Dr. Venture, his two sons and bodyguard Brock seem to just fall into meaningless adventures wherever they go. The super heroes all seem to have something against Dr. Venture and are foiled at every corner by their own stupidity. The sidekicks are the only ones who display any brain power.
I recommend this 1st season to anyone with a twisted sense of humor or who enjoy South Park and the first three seasons of the Simpsons. Oh, and Johnny Quest too.

This is a bold new era for animation indeed. This cartoon is so well done that I just can't say enough about it. Sadly, I could probably just watch the "Adventures of Brock Samson" (Dr. Venture's everyman bodyguard), but the rest of the guys provide great comedy relief. Very adult-oriented, very funny, very action-packed and smart---this is Cartoon Network's best original series yet. (Until more "Korgoth" arrives)

Loved the show when it first came out and it only gets better as it goes on. You can see how the characters have evolved in an short amount of time while still remaining hysterical. Well done.

Adult cartoon series with the feel of the 1960's Johnny Quest series for kids.
If you like the offbeat adult comedy cartoons seen on Adult Swim, you’ll love this one.

I love this series and have been watching it on Adult Swim ever since it first started. It's funny, weird, full of adventure and an amazing cast of characters. My boyfriend and I both enjoy it, so I thought it would be the perfect holiday gift, since he's in London and can't watch it over there.

Old School Was Never So NewThe first season of Venture Brothers isn't the best in the series, but it lays down all the groundwork for hilarious characters and surprisingly intricate plot-twining. The features on this DVD are great, and you get to see the creators in all their Hot Topic-esque glory. This is definitely worth a buy, and I can't wait to get the next two seasons.

Funny cartoon intended for adults, frequently shown on Adult Swim. Follows the adventures of the Venture Brothers as they get into trouble and try to solve mysteries, only to be saved by their scary yet sexy bodyguard, and their genius professor but sarcastic smart mouth dad. There is a whole cast of hilarious characters, especially the villians.

Awesome Series, Very exciting & comical!I saw this first on Adult Swim and just had to have the episodes that I might have missed. I enjoy all the plays on other old cartoons. Just a great show, definitely for adults, not because of bad stuff, it's just nothing that children would understand.

GREAT DVD!if you like the venture bros., you will love this dvd. it's great to see them all in a row, they are kind of like little episodes in a big story. The best part, is at the venture bros. yard sale, the monarch needs to find a toilet and dosen't like the "port-a-potty", so he goes into dr. venture's bedroom to use the facilities. While in the bathroom the monarch exclaims....
"this is great, I'm not even going to flush, let them see... THE WRATH OF THE MONARCH !!!!"

New take on an old theme!When I was a little boy way back in the sixties, I watched Johnny Quest on saturday mornings. Talk about cool! Monsters, lasers, jetpacks! WOW! It was realistic. The characters smoked and frequently were killed in gruesome ways. Imagine a childrens cartoon with that today. It couldn't happen. But a cartoon for older children who never grew completely up did happen. The Venture Bros. Is a dead-on killer take off on my beloved childhood cartoon. The animation is great, The stories are filled with laugh out loud moments. The voices are spot on.
Make no mistake, this baby is for grown ups. Take some time and check it out. You will love its skewed take on the old adventure cartoons. They even kill off major characters! Be aware that there is nudity, violence, adult themes and lots of bleeped cussing. If that doesn't make you want to see it then remember, that If you ever wondered how astronauts go to the bathroom in space,
these guys have the guts to show you what a full bladder will do to a spacesuit.
In other words... If you are a bit warped. A bit uh... not right. Than you will enjoy it. Although I'm normal in every way. I'm just talking about you. Not me. Check it out. What have you got to lose besides about twenty five bucks?
