First I should state that I LOVE Veggie Tales and own every Veggie Tales produced as of date and even have Lord of the Bean on pre-order through my local Christian bookstore.

I didn't know what to expect initially when I purchased this DVD, but being the Veggie Tales fanatic that I am, I decided to pick this one up as well. To my disappointment I was less than impressed with this selection overall and if you are debating between purchasing this DVD or a different Veggie Tales show, I'd recommend to not purchase this one.

For starters they don’t have the Veggie Tales theme song in this episode – which in itself isn’t that great of a deal. But on top of that they are not on the kitchen countertop during any of the show – nor do they talk to Quartie (the computer) to find out “what we learned today”. Perhaps I missed it – but there isn’t a real storyline either – it just appeared to be a random jumble of songs with poorly written dialogue in-between the songs. At some places within the dialogue I think they are trying to be humorous but instead left your kids there staring at the screen. And if you love Silly Songs with Larry – well, there isn’t one in here.

The songs themselves were entertaining and fun, while most are familiar campfire or Sunday school songs that your kids will probably recognize or at least pick up on the tunes – the dialogue, as I already stated wasn’t of any great value. My favorite song is the last song sung by Jr. Asparagus.

If you buy the DVD there are several bonus features included on it that might make-up for the shortcomings of the dialogue in the film itself. But like I said if you only have $15 and can only buy one DVD with it and are debating between Veggie Tales movies – may I recommend A Snoodle’s Tale.

This is so silly and I love it!

Larry decides that he is going to creat an automated joke machine of sorts. Well, it doesn't quite turned out as he planned, but it is still wonderfully funny!

My toddler loves the music of the Veggietales. She is entertained by this episode, although I thought it is a bit removed from the norm. I would recommend to every family that loves the Veggies!

Hello, I read a Review of this item when I was already bidding on it, and it said that this one is not as good as the other veggies videos, When I watched it I like it, it is true that it´s diferent it doesn´t have the veggies theme song, but they explain why and inspite it doen´t have the commun things I really like it, it has many know song and it is funny.
It is not one of my favorites, but I like it, so do my kids, and that´s what matters.
Gaby

  A decent Pick
Review created: 01/14/08

This is not veggietales best work. It is entertaining and was a nice addition to our collection but if I was intruducing someone to Veggietales this is not the one I would show them. No bibilical story it is themed around that I can tell and the silly song is about Larry obsessed with his SUV which my kids did not really get and leaves a materialistic feeling with you after you watch it. Good if your looking for aomething intresting to add to your collection but as I said not getting my vote for the best.

Not what I've come to expect from Veggie Tales

My kids and I have come to love Veggie Tales, especially the silly songs with Larry. This one is very different from most other Veggie Tales, and I was very disappointed with this episode and expected the DVD to be put on the shelf and ignored. However, even though I am not a fan of "Auto-Tainment" my kids have watched it many times and seem to really enjoy it. Kids might like it ok, but I would recomend that you find a different Veggie Tales movie to buy. Jonah, of course, is one of my favorites.
