I wasn't too sure about this purchase because I wasn't thrilled with the first Vacancy. I'll say it's not for children.

However, I was surprised that I liked it more than part I.

Story line was good and kept me interested. It gave more detail of how they got into it.

Agnes Bruckner pulls it off again.

This Direct-To-Video Prequel Was a Real Shocker!
Review created: 11/08/09(updated 11/08/09)

If prequels are your thing (as they are mine) and you enjoyed the original film, then I would certainly not tell you to blow this one off. But just go into it knowing it's probably gone straight to video more because of a poor script than low production values, which is not a good thing.

The editing seemed to be pretty good and the story was followable, but the director failed to make us feel sorry for the victims. This film was more like a 20-something version of the first. You don't really have any connection with any of the characters because they are really just almost stupid and ignorant and annoying. To tell you the truth, I felt more sorry for the Hotel management that was doing the dirty work than I did for any of the guests.

The ending was sort of that's what you get, but I really just forgot any details because it failed to capture my interest.

The Hotel wasn't even the same Hotel/Motel as was in the first film. Alright, now we know there was actually no attention paid to continuity of film. Supposedly this film was 3 years before the first film.

I'll give this one a 3/5 just because of the paranoia of the notorious Mr. Smith.

IF YOU LIKE MY REVIEWS, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO LET ME KNOW BY VOTING. THANKS!

Vacancy 2: The First Cut (DVD, 2009)
Review created: 09/24/09
by:

Murder by Numbers star Agnes Bruckner headlines this sequel to the tense, 2007 horror thriller about a lonely motel that's wired for terror. When Caleb, his new fiancée Jessica, and their wisecracking friend Tanner checked into the Meadow View Inn, they thought their scariest thing about their stay would be the tacky décor. But folks who check into this motel are never heard from again, because the sadistic Mr. Smith and his murderous accomplices have a habit of murdering their guests on camera and turning the tapes for a tidy profit. When Caleb, Jessica, and Tanner fall into Mr. Smith's diabolical trap, their only hope for survival is to fight though the night and become as brutal as their attackers.

If you have seen Vacancy the first one . then do see this one....
