Album Notes VH1 DIVAS: 2002 contains a regular audio CD as well as a DVD of the performance. This is a multi-channel Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players. Having kick-started the whole Gathering Of Divas extravaganzas, VH1 took its concept to Sin City for VH1 DIVAS LAS VEGAS, an over-the-top spectacle whose proceeds went to benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, an organization pledged to aiding music programs in public schools. Returning diva Celine Dion appropriates the lion's share of cuts ranging from a head-scratching duet with soul shouter Anastacia on the AC/DC classic "You Shook Me All Night Long" to her own "I'm Alive" and "A New Day Has Come." Delving into the canon of her millennial make-over as a techno queen, Cher fed the crowd her twin dance hits "Believe" and "(This Is) A Song For The Lonely." Country fans got their due when the Dixie Chicks teamed with influence Stevie Nicks on a stellar reading of the Fleetwood Mac perennial "Landslide." Latin pop superstar Shakira also impresses with an acoustic reading of her self-penned "Underneath Your Clothes." This being Las Vegas, an Elvis medley seemed appropriate and VH1's first ladies obliged with Anastacia deconstructing "Jailhouse Rock," Shakira delivering a melodramatic "Always On My Mind," Cher (in young Elvis garb!) snarling through "Heartbreak Hotel" and Dion finishing with "Can't Help Falling In Love."
