V (DVD, 2001)

When this miniseries came out in 1983, I was not into sci-fi at all, but I always had vague memories about this show. Just a few years after the show came and went, I became a big fan of sci-fi. Go figure. Anyway, I picked this up a couple of years ago and I was thoroughly impressed! The story is great (a sort of modern day holocaust, with the aliens as the fascist leaders) and the special effects are very solid after all these years. You will love the characters and how they all relate and react to each other. The only weak point is Marc Singer's corny acting, but that is easily overlooked as he is a pretty cool guy. The main plot is very good and the ending leaves you wanting more. I've always seen the value in sci-fi movies that rely on storytelling instead of being special-effects-laden yawners. ("The Day The Earth Stood Still" is one of the best 'story first' movies, that just happens to have some 'amazing for it's time, but still nifty' effects ;) ) It is one of the coolest movies I own and is highly recommended for sci-fi fans and also anyone who likes a good, unique story.

The hay day of the mini-series was the 1980's and they usual told complex stories that couldn't be told in a one night tv movie. But this one was different from the rest. This was the only sci-fi I remember from the era in this format.

It was well done. A good story, an intriguing plot and good acting. Viewing this again, I see that the underlying tones were about Nazi invasion and the resistance fighters against them. A view that might have been missed by younger viewers at the time. But there is much for sci-fi fans as well. An alein species coming from another world pretending to bring peace, but instead they came for other reasons. Controling the elite, the government and the media they used people of this world to do their bidding of robbing it of its resources. Those that didn't believe or turned a blind eye were part of humanity's distruction, while everyone else turned to being a freedom fighter.

This is an excellant dvd. Despite being made for tv it is presented in widescreen so we can see how the show was really shot. It also has comentary from the creator and a making of documentary. A must have for sci-fi fans.

I was a big "V" fan when I was a kid. This DVD, "V-The Mini Series", is the begining and best of the series. 5 Stars!! The DVD packaging itself was the old outdated cardboard type case but the DVD picture and sound quality were just fine. The effects were great and although not up to par with today's effects, it was the best on TV at the time. If you are a Sci-Fi fan, this is a must have.

great sci-fi tv show. the special effects were great for the time. also I was impressed that they spent the money to make it a great show. It's a pre-quel to Independance Day. 50 motherships arriving trying to enslave mankind. Take our resourses and use us for food. Sound familiar?! It think t is even better than Independance Day. Great movie!! A++++

Looked everywhere for this show (V: TV Series) on DVD. Was very excited when i got it. My conquest was finally over. Love to collect OLD TV shows. Plus I didn't spend alot on it. Thank You

Got the DVD I ordered very quickly and in perfect condition. It was packaged very securely. I wanted the movie due to the new TV series on ABC.

I decided to buy this movie because there's nothing like ole'school. It's one of those movies that always stays in the back of your mind-no matter how old you are.

I always loved watching the series on TV in the early 80's and I loved watching it again-especially now, in the age of Blue-ray and HD..it does'nt get any better than that!!

This is the real first part of the mini series "V". The other dvd I purchased earlier, " V The Complete Series" is NOT complete, because it leaves out all this first part stuff, which is very important to someone who has never seen this series. I am very happy with my purchase!

Great Mini Series! Remember watching it as a kid, just recently learned the DVD was out of print. I'm sure it will be reprinted now that a remake is in the works.

Let's put it this way: if you love sci-fi, mini-series, alien conspiracies, and cheezy 80s special fx, then this is a keeper. A vast array of characters fight for their freedom against the V- Visitors who seem initially interested in peace with Earth, but soon reveal sinister ulterior motives for the future of the human race. A groundbreaking mini-series with many unforgettable moments and memories. Beware the lizard men!

I like this movie ever since I was a kid. I watched it on tv and I finally found them on ebay. There is nothing I dislike about this movie. The price was reasonable. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

This was one of the best Sci-Fi Series Ever! Very well written and great casting. Keeps you on the edge. Has everything you could ask for in a sci-fi series. Would reccomend to anyone interested in sci-fi/Aliens/lizards, that kinda thing.

This is an very good sci-fi mini series from the 80's. Still fun to watch. Great plot and character devolpment.

I like the whole alien human thing. I also like how they show the human/alien eat a medium sized rodent. I also think it is cool that the technology is so much in the future yet it is in the past, with the laser pistols.

This movie/series is an excellent demonstration of how fascism, totalitarianism and police states develop. It's really a metaphor for how people start these types of political situations. I was extremely impressed with how the progression from freedom to a police state was rapidly implemented in the movie. The special effects were somewhat cheesy, especially in relation to how technology has developed over the years, but the character studies and the rationale behind the actions of the different characters was superb. The producer attempted to provide a demonstration of how police states begin. He also showed how freedom-loving people resist despots and also the depth of their zest for freedom. I was especially in awe of how applicable this movie was to the present state of affairs that we can observe today in the United States and the rest of the world. Hopefully, people can learn from movies like this and fight to avoid fascism.

I like the older TV shows. They have a story line to follow. This show had multiple story lines intertwined with a lot of first rate actors.

Aliens come to Earth to offer a trade, our natural resources, for their technology. This only hid their siniter plan. The Visitors were here to take all of our water, and all of humanity for food. A small band of resistance fighters join together to expose them for the creatures that they are.
