Uroboros - Dir en grey the craziest ever seen
Review created: 04/22/09(updated 07/05/09)

Dir en grey’s album “Uroboros” is an unique, engrossing and surprising CD. The music range is wide enough to hear the sound of light rock, through heavy metal and progressive rock, ending on experimental mix of all kinds of rock music you’ve ever known. Second track “Vinushka” brings a sensation of Hungarian melodies, also creating a “wave” – from gentle acoustic guitar to hard electric guitar riffs, again slowing down the pace. Powerful and filled with emotions voice of the vocalist brings us joy along with sadness. In tear-jerking track “Toguro” singer screams melodically, with pain which can be actually experienced. We can feel his emotions without understanding the lyrics. For the text itself, which is mainly Japanese, Dir en grey has English lines. Sarcastic and full of rage “Stuck Man” surely is a masterpiece of English language and fury.
However, power of Dir en grey’s music not only lies in hands of vocalist. Main composers, the leading and rhythmic guitarist, are the most essential part of the band’s success outside the Japan’s borderlines. Their assertiveness can be perfectly hear on the album as well.
Whoever, whenever will buy the “Uroboros” and listen to it, will fall in love with its sound and originality immediately. The fact of being able to experiment, improve music and still be listened by people who says unflinchingly “it sound like Dir en grey” is the reason why you should by this album. NOW!
