Synopsis This touching tale is told entirely in letters between a teenage girl in Harlem and her boyfriend, who has been sent "upstate" to prison for killing his father. His actual guilt is in dispute, but the feeling between Antonio and Natasha is strong and passionate, and it endures over a 10-year period despite their very different preoccupations: Antonio's attempts simply to survive in the brutal atmosphere of prison, and Natasha's need to engage with the world.
