This book was just what my 8-year-old son, Ben, needed to take his Lego building to the next level. He was a wiz with one- and two-dimensional creations, and was just beginning to experiment--albeit roughly--with building three-dimensional Lego objects. The pictures and diagrams in this book helped him conceptualize and refine his 3-D building strategies and also gave him ideas for new projects.

As a parent, it's nice to know that some folks (like the author) never outgrow playing with their Legos. I'd rather have my son interested in Legos than in TV, video games and other mind-numbing "entertainment" any day.

  The Unofficial Lego Builder's Guide

I bought this book for a friend who was complaining that her nine-year-old grandchild loved Lego but confined himself to the kits which he enjoyed making following the instruction but never took apart once completed. The kits are relatively expensive and we both agreed that there was more to Lego than kits. It was a good buy and is full of useful information on how to go about creating with regular Legos. In fact, it is a little advanced for the nine-year-old beginner but with adult help he has entered a new world and is enjoying his (and his Daddy's) unique creations. Recommended.

We are avid ones and love this guide. Used to keep borrowing it out of the library when doing a project and just had to have out own.
