This is my 2nd UR-7 remote, and it's even better than the first. I originally bought it because it not not only has preset codes, but the ability to learn from other remotes. My TV (ViewSonic) had no codes available. So I taught it. This new remote now has a code for the TV. If there are other features you want on a specific device that are not included with the device's code, you can add them via the learning method. I no longer have a reason to use the factory remote, as I've added all the features I need to every device on the remote - TV, TiVo, DVD, VCR & A/V receiver.
I may not be able to program it on the internet like some of those overpriced units, but who cares? I spent less than half an hour setting this up exactly the way I want it, and I doubt I'll need to make any changes unless I buy something new.
One more thing - it DOES have a lighted panel, although the specs say it doesn't. If you want a great remote for little money, don't pass this by.

I am very pleased with this remote, it was very easy to set and has some identical controls as to the DVR remote we have from Time Warner although there are some functions missing. It also works great with my XBOX 360 with the game controller functions work marvelously on the remote itself. I actually started playing a game with the new remote but as it was a little cumbersome I switched to the actual game controller. The only real drawback is that the new remote does not have a TV/Video button that the TV remote has in order to switch the TV to auxilary so I always need the TV remote handy, this is a constant problem which was also present with the DVR remote, and you are not able to LIST saved shows or LIVE tv. The drawback? It doesn't control my Wii! Oh well, I can't have the remote control everything because if I could I could feed my cat when she bugs me or at least turn her off.
This is a fantastic universal remote and very easy to work and set up. The book is surprisingly large that came with the remote to help the user with all the setup even giving a total of three (3) different ways in which to set the remote up. For each device it also lays out what the buttons actually do. Amazing! I worked in an electronics business for nine (9) years and grew up with electronics and I can tell you that this is probably the easiest remote I've seen. A definite added bonus to your gaming systems and electronics.
