The only remote control you will ever need.

This is my second MX-700 Universal Remote - nothing went wrong with the first one, on the contrary, the first one is so good that I knew I had to get hold of another one.
The MX-700 from Universal Remote Control is a PC programmable universal infra-red remote control that replaces all of your existing remote controls. It has a mix of labeled hard buttons, (all with excellent and suitable names), as well as 10 'soft buttons' that, whilst are still physically the same type of hard button, are placed next to an LCD panel that allows each button to be custom labelled with any 5 character name or function.
The only remaining button for description is the side mounted 'light' button that brings about a lovely green glow allowing you to use the remote in total darkness.
For ease of use and maximum user 'configurability' this device cannot be beaten. Control of up to 20 devices, all buttons can be programmed from pre-configured presets or direct learning from another remote.
Any button can be programmed with a macro of commands and with the 'delay time' feature multiple macros can be programmed on any button, (if I press the 'DVD' button the remote changes to control my DVD player, if I press and hold the 'DVD' button for more than 1 second my entire AV system reconfgures to play a DVD - TV changes input, amp switches input, my digital-optical switch changes input etc ...).
The only downside with this remote is that you MUST use a PC to program it. No programming or learning can happen on the remote itself.
This isn't a problem as long as you get the data connection lead, (or this is easily made from standard 'maplin' parts), and the required software, (getting the software can be a slight problem but do enough google searching and you will turn it up).
The combination of all hard buttons, (great to use when the room is dark as after a short while you 'just know' where the volume up/down buttons are), and the custom labels for the 'soft' buttons is fantastic and much better than any remote control that has a touch screen.
Make no mistake, this remote is a real 'pro' tool that with a little work within the PC programming tool will result in a fantatsic experience for anyone that needs to control an extensive AV / Home Cinema setup.
Seasoned home cinema enthusiasts as well as anyone that just wants to turn on the TV and play a movie will easily make sense of this remote control - my grandfather can use this remote to control my home cinema / AV systems as well as I can.
I even control all of my main and side lighting with this remote after getting some IR lighting fixtures.
A superb product and the onyl remote you will ever need, (unless you buy two or three MX-700s for different rooms / homes ...)
