Synopsis Eleven-year-old aspiring artist Skate experiences many changes when she enters middle school, finds her best friend drifting away from her, and loses her beloved great-uncle.
Sixth grader Skate Tate keeps a scrapbook diary, riffing on the difficult first months at her new school, Biddle Middle School. Told in present tense and in first person, the book resembles a scrapbook with its photographs, stickers, terse jottings, and miscellany heaped together on each page. A 32-page, full-color insert accompanies the text.
